To BM or Not to BM!!

All right this is my situation. The wife asked me to hold off on getting into the BM group buy at $175. But once we get tax money, I can spend around 300-350 on sub. I know missed a great deal, but things got tight. So with that said, what would be my best option? 1 BM, 2 ID 10's, or something else. I have a zapco ref. 500.1, so 500W at 2ohm single channel. I am leaning towards the BM, but I want to make sure I am selecting the best option for the money I am spending. I listen to everything except rap.

A lot of kids love the rap boom boom, which I find funny because they will come post here and be concerned about how good a sub sounds (most subs will sound the same playing bass tones aka cRap music). If you want accurate music reproduction with solid output in a slim package, there's no reason not to go with a BM. The 500w @ 2 ohm from the Zapco matches up perfectly, and hell you could still keep your jack under the seat.

There will be BMs floating around for sale slightly used around tax time, I guarantee it. You should be able to pick one up for nearly the pre-order prices and save a couple hundred bucks.

Because I watch the DIYMA and CA classifieds all the time and stuff is always going up for sale. People sometimes become strapped for cash and need to sell their beloved equipment, happens all the time.

That and all the hype about these subs yet noone has heard them. I watch the classified now alot too since i wanna do something other then Alpine Type R, but rarely see subs, most of the time its amps.

I thought about the BM because of the price, but i dont need the thin sub in my standard cab. Ill wait till someone actually listens to them before i decide.

Tax money should be here in 7-8 days, so should be able to get BM for the $220 first month price. I'm not a boom boom person, my last system consisted of two bazooka's, which I thought sounded great considering saving weight was my goal in a Mach 1. Why will BMs be floating around?

Edit: late post, I see your point about floating around.

Only about 10 or so people have heard the thin BM. I sent out the mkII prototype a few months ago to Zach (boostedrex) and a few other people and just now got it back. One of the Hybrid Audio guys even gave it a listen before the mkII made its way back to me.

Every review I saw was very positive about the BM. I was going to go listen to it since a friend of mine had the prototype who is local but I didn't have time. He gave a solid review of it (and compared to the DIYMA and Mag v4, two subs that I am familiar with) and from what he said the BM sounds like the perfect subwoofer for my tastes and for these trucks in general.

Would you suggest up fire or down fire in the F150 supercrew?

Here is Zach's review of the mkII: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...prototype.html

If possible, up-fire the driver. Down-firing typically causes quite a few rattles or un-wanted vibrations.

Up-fire should be a pretty easy build. I'll do some measuring today to see if we can get the airspace with basic square box or something fancy.

Thanks for the review. Oh, by the way, their is a lot of great info on the SI website and forum. I am excited again about the BM and will be purchasing one next week when tax money is here.
