6.5 in a 5x7 recessed whole?

2005 f150 supercrew..

Any tips on putting a 6.5" driver in the recessed whole for the 5x7? I understand the basics the adapter bracket, but the mounting area is recessed about 3" and even if I got a bracket down in there, the 6.5" speaker wont fit down there? Do I have to make the bracket extend out so that the new mounting area is flush with the rest of the door? Do i put the bracket on the outside of the recessed area to begin with?

I'm having a hard time visualizing the way this is suppose to go, but I know I'm not the only one trying to put 6.5's in this type of truck.

For a better picture of what i'm looking at, refer to:

It can be done.... 6.25 will fit a little easier, 6.5 can be none also, the panel will give some... but it best to just mount them on a MDF baffle and just cut the panel off to clear the speaker....

These are 6.5 Rainbow Germs installed in my panel

Yes, there are available, but you still have to cut the speaker hole out bigger on the adapter.
if you have to cut any way, might as well trace you stock speaker and make your own....

Thanks Truck'in, I'll give it another look tonight, see if I can get it to squeeze in at all. I was already planning on making an adapter bracket for it, I was just going to be really hesitant about making any alterations to the panel itself.

We'll see what I can come up with.
