Could use an opinion??
|
Hey guys, need an opinion on subwoofer choices. I've got an '03 supercrew, backseat is lifted 3", and an Alpine MRD-1005 amp. I'm looking for a great sounding sub, money's not really a consideration I just want a hard hitting sub. I already have a 10" type s, but I'm not sure if it's going to cut it.

If money isn't a big issue...
Check into the Treos. I had two treo competition SS, and they by far the loudest and best sounding subs I've ever had, at a reasonable price ($700). In addition to that, they are very long lasting. You can buy some real loud subs out there that will die or tear in a year or two.
Treos are the subwoofers that broke the sound record in 2003, and they also offer a great sound.
Check them out!
What ever you go with though, remember that sound QUANTITY and QUALITY only comes from a properly matched sub and box! I'm not sure your exact box size, but you should check out it can handle a treo

I'm going to have to get a custom box made anyway, but I don't think I can go over a 6.5" mounting depth even with the seat lifted.

If you can squeeze the depth the boston G5 sub is great, if not the eclipse aluminum is also real strong.

Thanks guys, I've had a look around and am pretty sure I'll go with the Treos, great power handling with a shallow mounting depth. I appreciate the advise.

you wont regret the Treos if you choose to go that route...ive ran them since they came on the market a few years back, the shop i worked at was the first in the region to get them. They are still hand built here in the US and their quality is second to none. Great sound, great power handling, great bass...ive run almost all of their lines at one point or another, im currently contemplating switching in a pair of the TSi 10's in my supercrewsound box, ive had good results with them in the past...they are way underrated and i have yet to blow one after running them for at least five years or so

Just redo your whole back bench similar to mine, and then you can run 2 12" subs

Im deffinately not into the bostons, i dont think they sound that good. im personally a kicker fan, the l7's are great priced and sound amazing with a hard hitting bass, i put mine under my seat(lifted of course) in a dual ported box with the amps mounted on the back of the box.
deffinately loud and clean.
