downward firing underseat box. Look on ebay for your year under subwoofers and add 10"s to the search criteria. A few results will give you a sampling of what you can do.

Good luck

2 cents worth

IMO, downfiring gives you more sound. If you really want to hear the bass, cut a piece of thin plexiglass and slide it under the downfiring box between the sub face and the carpet. The plexiglass "rebounds" the sound that the carpet would normally absorb.
Be sure to let us know what you decided to go with.

I have 2 10" JL w3v2's in my ext. cab. I got my box from musicmooseaudio.com. Check them out, pretty good prices. And yeah mine are downfiring and they sound really good.

Yeah I have an extended cab 98 and also have down firing 10's
mounted in a sealed composite ProBox. It pumps out some serious low's.

1998 F150 Extended Cab - Alpine Head unit CDA-9831, 4 Fosgate 5.25" Fanatics driven by a Fosgate Punch P8004 4 channel amp (mids/hi's), 2 Fosgate Punch P2 10" subs driven by a Fosgate Punch P6001 mono amp (low's). Sub's mounted in a composite enclosed box under rear seat. To finish it off 2 Fosgate wire kits. No x-over's was needed due to the combination of the chosen head unit and 4 channel amp. Kicks out a constant and consistant 109db. It isn't competition but darn close.

If I change anything I will change the 5.25" speakers out to Infinity Kappa's with the same amp choice as above!

Thanks,
Dann'o

If you build a box to go under the seat, make sure you have some clearance between the magnet and the box. Most subs vent heat through the bottom of the magnet, if you block that, you will fry your voicecoils. MTX makes subs that vent around the basket structure, they operate alot more effiecently in small sealed enclosures.

Down firing the woofers also muffles some of the distortion. I tried both ways, I like down firing the best.

Just a thought.

You could also look at my box I even put the plans and instructions up. I'm not sure if you could deal with losing the middle seat though? Anyways here is mine.
