Dual or single voice coils?

I am looking to put a single 10" sub in either a sealed or ported enclosure. I'm am trying to figure out if it is better to use a dual voice coil wired to 2ohm, or just go with a sub with a single 4ohm. Or is it really a matter of I don't know what i'm talking about.

You need to decide what sub AND amp you want. If you get a single voice coil 4 ohm sub, the amp needs to be able to power it at 4 ohms. A dual 2 ohm can be wired to either 4 or 1 ohm. Dual 4 to 8 or 2 ohm.

I don't know much, but hopefully this will make a little sense to you.

if you're going with a single sub, just get the single voice coil. there's really no difference in sound or power handling between the two. when you run two or more subs, then the dual voice coils give you more options on how to wire them up to properly work with your amp(s).
