[QUOTEAnyone done a single sub and amp set up? [/B][/QUOTE]

I'm getting around to replacing the door speakers in the front... I just had a 10'sub & amp installed yesterday. I think it sounds great. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but it's clear, crisp and kicks enough for me....I'm not interesting in blasting my neighbors, just me in the truck! The shop built the box, I already had an small MTX amp, & the sub is a either PBX or Memphis Audio--not expensive at all, but good enough for me.

I am building sub box, with 2-10" kicker CVR10 in it. This is going in my 98 f-150 regular cab. I haven't got it hooked up yet. Just finishied box fab tonight. Will carpet and wire box conectors this week some time. I will of course let everyone know how it comes out.

im really interested to see how you built that box to fit, cause there's not much room behind the seat in a reg cab. Let us know.

winchestermag1,

Here is either a picture or a link to the plans for my box. The way I came up with it is I left the drivers seat where it normally is. I moved the passenger seat all the way forward. I then measured the Height that i wanted, up to the hump around the back of cab. At the top I measured from the highest point I was going to use, while trying to keep tape level, that came out to 6". I then went to the lowest point and measured, that was 10". I then measured the width. I kept it between the changes in the molding across the back of cab, that is 41", I used 42" even though the plans say 41". I then used a box calculator, available through Rockford Fosgate. And I came up with 1.7 cu.ft. This size may not work with all sub woofers. Kicker, the brand I am using, recommends .8 cu.ft for one 10"sub. which should be 1.6 for two. I did seperate the chambers in the middle, for .85 cu.ft.

I hope this helps. Here are the home made plans, I used Paint to draw them up. They are not even close to scale.

I will most likely have to move my seat forward one click on the seat adjuster. By the way my subs do acctually fit in the box. Some subs may not, as they may be deeper. I didn't look to see how close they are, as I already had the ends of the box silled when I checked them. They do fit and don't hit the back.

Scotty08,

Thanks for the layout plans, pretty good for paint I might add. I just never realized that you could fit enclosed subs back there and they still work well. Thanks a lot, I’ll probably look into some subs now.

Those plans are pretty basic, but they work well enough. The ends actually fit inside, rather than covering the end. It would be easy to change it the other way around if you wanted. I have some photos in another post of the finsihed product.

If you wanted to fit 12' subs you could make them a little taller about 3" or so should accomidate for the smallest 12" enclouser. Just guessing would need to punch some #'s to know for sure. I did notice after i got my subs. The 12" CVR has only 6 or 9 oz. heavier magnet. Yet needs 100 more watts RMS to run right. My point is I think the 10" will give nearly the exact same volume, without the space or power equirements. That is my opinion of course.
