2 Way Comps under $300

Looking for some good 2 way components for under $300.00

So far I am considering MB Quartz PCE 213

or Orion C5.2

Any thoughts on these?

Does anyone have either of these?

I also looked at Q-forms but have now decided to put these in the doors with baffles and deadening to try and get decent mid bass.

Looking to power these with an Audiobahn 400T.

Thanks,

I have the MB Quart 216's which is the 2-way 6.5" components. They are awsome! I've had MB's in all of my vehicles since the early 90's. You can't go wrong with them. Check eBay and google for best prices.

Go with a 6.5" set. Much improved midbass and still not a tough install. As for my recommendations... CDT Audio. Be sure to search for it on ebay.

Will I need to do any cutting for this install? Or will I just need to make an adapter?

Thanks for the help!

For most true 6.5" sets you will just need to make an adapter. Some of the oversized 6.5s or 7" frames may need a bit of cutting as the adapter would have to be too thick.

When I install these, should I also install the foam speaker surrounds or baffles from Crutchfield or the like?

I don't recommend the baffles. I've yet to see water cause a problem or shorten the longevity of a set of speakers. If one does decide to use baffles, I recommend installin them and then cutting a hole in the bottom to allow the speaker to opperate free air.

Which MB Quart 216's do you have RCE or PCE...A friend of mine owns a speaker shop that doesn't sell MB Quart he said the PCE is overrated but I've heard Nothing but great stuff about them......this is what I'll be getting this month

1- Alpine CDA-9833
2- Alpine KCA-420I(Ipod Interface)
3- Alpine MRV-F540 Amp
4- 4 MB Quarts RCE216 component Speakers
5- Sub box with one downfiring 10
6- Alpine MRP-350(amp on sub)
7- Apple 20gig Gen4 Ipod

Does anybody see anything wrong with any of this...I just read tons post about all this crap....I'm going to buy it all online and just get it installed somewhere.

The only thing I would recommend would be to drop one set of the components. If you want proper soundstage and imaging for sound quality reasons, then that's the ticket. If you happen to be a "fan" of "rear fill", as it's called, then even stock speakers are sufficient, faded to barely audible. Just my opinion.

I went with the PCE216s after listening to them and doing a lot of research. I also picked up a Probox and 2 10" subs, an Audiobahn A4002T and an A8002T both with a best price guarantee, which really lowered my cost (The Zeb). Now I'm looking at sound deadener tomorrow and hope to do the install myself this weekend.

In a few weeks I'll decide if I want to swap out the HU, but for now I've decided to stay with the stock look.

I plan on sanding down the Probox and covering it to match my interior. Still a little concerned with finding room for everything though. The Audiobahn amps run real hot so I'm hoping to keep them out from under the seats.

K I'm going to get the PCE's so you're saying don't get the pair for the back doors...what about the people that are in the back...I don't want them to just hear the bass.....For the component 6.5 the tweeter mounts in that other cavity on top of the speaker? So what should I do for the rear speakers?

Spyder did you get your system set up yet....I'm upping my alpine to a 9835. I so confused about speakers...I don't have any place to listen to any of them except the kappas....although I ruled them out for the dummest reason ever....they're to cheap...when compared to the MB Quart...BA...CDE...Diamond...I'm a musician so sound is very important to me....
