Gas Prices

hey im sure everyone has looked around these days and seen gas prices.

What is going on that they are surging up? Is anyone else suffering the effects of this?

I have been forced to drive my baby(truck) alot less lately becuase as of the most recent $3.83 a gallon.

This issue is all over the news and has been for a looooooooooong time. Where have you been?

For now my truck is my daily driver. All I can say is I ain't walking. I drive it to work and back, no excessive driving.

yea. I think the biggest hurt is because we are exporteing alot of gas and diesel over to iraq, which is CRAP! we shouldve been out of there 2 years ago.

but anyway, gas here in West Columbia(south of houston) is $3.75 for 87 and $4.69 for diesel.

up around Hobby Airport i saw $3.89/$3.99. its RIDICULOUS!!

As long as the overpaid oil company execs and their shareholders are happy they certainly don't give a crap. I just wish they would use some of their profits to clean up the mess they left from drilling in South Louisiana way back in the 50's and 60's.

There are many reasons why the prices are increasing. There is greater demand worldwide. China, Russia, and India have exploding economies and everyone there wants a car. Diesel is cheaper to produce than gasoline but is more expensive because there is greater worldwide demand for it. OPEC has the world by the balls. If the price of oil per barrel is too low they will decrease production and the price goes up. The production of oil has not kept up with rising demand. I live down the road from the Conoco and Citgo refineries and the price of gas is still $3.80.

they dont necassarily make the gas there, just stages of it. my dad works for Conoco-Philips in Sweeny, TX, and gas is still $3.75 @ the valero right next to the gate. it still has to be worked from the refineries before it is turned into gas. if it held true gasoline in tanks there, it would be nowhere near a town or community, WAY too dangerous
