Best Chicken Fried Steak In Texas?

So -- who do you think has the best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas?

I'll cast my vote for Goodson's Cafe in Tomball. The quality and flavor of the meat is superb, and it has just the right amount of breading!

The one I had the other day at Fillip's Cafe in Danbury, Texas was pretty good. Just the right amount of breading, fork tender, cream gravy on the side and a baked potato.

My wife from Garland states that SideKicks in Garland has the best. I might have to try it when we go there at the end of July.

I've researched this while in college one summer

and here's my list:

The Blue Bonnett Cafe in Marble Falls.
Wall Street Bar and Grill in Midland
The Oasis in Austin
The Green Frog in Weatherford
Cagles Steaks in Lubbock

If you can't get to any of those places, go to your local Chilis, and order yours with the batter that they use on the awesome blossom. The order for it is CFS Blos temp. That should hold ya for a while.

Texas Land and Cattle in Arlington is pretty good and the Cotten patch in Burleson is suprisingly good.

The Ranchman Cafe, also known as the Ponder Steakhouse has some mighty fine CFS. I've actually never had anything there tha wasn't excellent. Just make sure you call a day in advance if you want a baked tater!
