Question Should I Lower my F150 NASCAR edition?

I am an old 60's muscle car fan who recently purchased a clean low milage 98 F150 NASCAR Edition and am really impressed with the handeling of it. Being a newbie to truck suspension I am not sure what the cause and effect would be if I lowered it. It seams to me that it sits just a little too high in the rear. I was doing some research and learned that it comes factory with a rousch <SP?> suspension and exhaust. I would like to drop it a little but not at the risk of compromising performance or un-needed wear and tear.

Should I leave it as is or should I just put some 17" wheels on it to fill the well. I would also like to get a deeper growl out of it -- will JBA headers provide better performance than the roush exhaust. P.S.: Great site - keep up the good work!
