Post $1680 to lower my L? This is the quote from SoCal. A little steep, don'tcha think?

Here's what SoCal says is included:

Front
Eibach progressive wound front coil springs.
Bell Tech shackle and hanger.
Short bump stops.
Rear sway bar.
Caster cambre (sp?) allignment kit.

Rear
Bell tech shackle and hanger.
Heim joint style end link (shortened to keep sway bar in allignment).
Leaf spring of some type.
Extension bracket for shocks (if I keep Bilsteins which I'm not).

All the above including labor is $1399 plus tax.

Set of KYB self adjusting shocks for $70 each.

Now the whole thing is $1680 before taxes.

This seems like a lotta money to lower the truck 1.75 inches in the front and 2.5 to 3 inches in the rear.

What do you think?

If you're only interested in lowering the truck, then it's expensive - about $747/in.

With that in mind, why bother with the shocks, extension brackets and rear sway bar?

Then the price would be about $1200 installed and ends about $546/in.

Spike, I know some of my ambitions for this truck are mostly cosmetic but I do want a good ride. Actually, I was a little late in posting the question because I dropped the truck off this morning and it'll be done tomorrow...

Amusingly, they loaned my a car and it's a total ricer with a huge tail - and worse yet it gets a lot of looks. First the car, then me, then they roll their eyes...

Enjoy your new ride when you get it tomorrow!

While you have the ricer, you should have some fun with it. Maybe spike your hair or something like that...

Thumbs up

You really didn't give us a price-parts and labor breakdown BUT any 4x4 shop will do the install for $250-$400.00 labor.(Had 2 done) I can't see the parts costing $1000.00 without the shocks.
Then again, it's a mute point since you already have it done.

You had TWO SoCal kits installed by a 4x4 shop?? Did they screw up the first one?

I'm familiar with their suspension setup and that's the correct installed price, when you throw in shocks, extensions, and the sway bar.

I originally questioned trabuco's choice because all he mentioned was "lowering" the truck.

Good luck finding a shop that will do the SoCal install for any less, let alone be able to do it properly.

Trabuco, enjoy your new ride!

The install is done and it came out great. I looked at it under the truck and it's a very professional and sanitary job.

Big chunk of change but I know it's done right and that if something goes wrong they'll back it.

Rides up to 80mph as good as before - maybe just a little bit softer. Corners better.

Next mod up is going to really bug you...

Need to get my digital back and get the truck up on a lift to show you the install.

Cosmetically, it looks like every other dropped L...

trabuco - Best of luck w/ the kit. When you get a little more driving with it could you email me more thoughts of the kit and handling improvements, I would like get more insight on the SoCal kit for the webpage I made for the lowering kits.
