Hey Steve,
Give AIG a try. I don't have their number with me, but it is a 800# and have had great service from them for about 1 1/2 years now. I was very suprised when I called them.

I have Geico, I'm not sure what the rate is for the "L", becuz I pay our other along with it every month. Also you mentioned that you are getting married (the ring) after you do your ins will go down too. So get a price est. after you get married.

Steve,

I agree with all the above posts. I have State Farm and like 'em. They (and possibly some of the others) give multi-vehicle discounts, so if that would apply in your case you might want to check it out.

Most of us have found that our insurers treat the Lightning the same rate-wise as any other F-150 and do not assign a rate surcharge like they would to most other performance oriented vehicles. I know my '99 L coverage is actually less than it was on my former '91 Syclone.

Good luck!

I currently am with Geico. I am probably in the same boat as 2000Silver. I am 21 years old/Universal Agent/Connecticut/No Tickets in 2-3 years.

I pay a lot for full coverage almost 3K-4K a year. I don't even drive the beast much because of the man taking all my money.

Will State Farm give me a break? I have 2 vehicles. Whats the phone number for State Farm?

Insurance ranks up there with death and taxes. Nobody wants it. I try to find the cheapest insurance out there.

I use a company called Selective Insurance that is based out of Charlotte, NC.

I am 29, married and no tickets or accidents. I only use the L for pleasure. I have a company car that is my primary ride. I pay $570.00 a YEAR for full coverage. I just shopped around for new insurance and nobody could touch this rate.

Hope this helps.

try Nationwide. I'm 38 and have multicar discount. waiting on a 2000 L and was quoted $394.00 for 6 months. How about raising your deductible to $500. It will lower your rate.

I was 23 or 24 when I bought my 96 Cobra.. I paid 1800 a year so I know your pain... State Farm has me at $460 a half on my L, but I'm 28 now... I couldn't get much below $150 a month back then... so good luck

Oh.. no tickets, wrecks, or duis for 5 years (how I have does this with a Cobra and a Lightning I haven't a frigin clue)

Since you are under 25, your rates are going to be a little higher. I have Progressive and I pay $106 a month for full coverage. This is the same price I was paying for full on my 94' L and liability of my 87' GT, but this is a much more expensive truck.

I too have State Farm am 39 and insurance was about half on the lightning comparedto my 98 cobra. Believe it is a symbol 13 while the cobra was a symbol 26 and of all the funny things my 2000 Red Corvette hardtop is a 20. Even the agent cant figure. But like the price of insurance on the lightning anyway

Cool

I've got State Farm. When I went to insure it, even giving the vin code, they could not figure out what kind of F-150 this was. At first, she was just going to give me the rates of F-150 XL base model with a V-8--very low insurance rates. I took a pamphlet and copy of registration to the office and we sat there and looked through her computer for a Lightning. It was very difficult to find back in July of 1999. I wanted to make sure that It would be covered as a Lightning, not a base model truck. Can't remember the exact points, It was equal to Corvette/Cobra. I've had insurance with State Farm for most of my driving years (age 33) and with $1000 deductable comp/collision, B.I. $25K, each accident $50K, P.D. $50K. Rate for 6 months: $214.20 I insure my house and three other vehicles with them, so there are discounts for having everything with State Farm.

Sorry for the long post, It's just that I see alot of people saying to go with State Farm because they are cheap. Just make sure it's registered as a Lightning. I don't know if you did get in an accident with a lesser model if you'd have a problem or not.
