Power folding mirror parts prices

I have a local electronics installer who has done quality work for me over the years - he has reviewed the wiring schematic for power folding mirrors and says that he can install them.

So I am looking for sources for the parts that will charge a reasonable price. The parts needed are:
Drivers side mirror - 5L3Z17683AAA
Pass side mirror - 5L3Z17682AAA
Switch - 4L3Z17B676AA

If anyone has a source for reasonably priced Ford parts I'd like to hear from them.

Thanks.

I think you left out a part.
You also need the folding mirror module and lots of connectors and wire.
Retail at ford dealer is about $400.00.

My installer says he doesn't need the module he will use his own relays, connectors and wire.

Module

Bob:

You have probably seen this already, but just in case, here is a post from baja150:

Guys, you dont need the module. I checked one out today. All the module consists of is some on board relays. You can buy a relay and make this work. All you need to do is pulse a grd when you hit the switch and the mirror will fold. It is alot easier than you are making it out to be. The five wires can be used on a std relay.

Yes the PFMM does consist of 2 relays, but also a limit sensor. If you don't have the limit sensor you have to manually stop the mirrors when they fold all the way in or out. With the limit switch they will stop by themselves so the motors don't continue to run after the mirrors are at the end of their travel.

Bob,

Got the following from Fred Martin in Ohio (Kevin) a while back when i was doing some initial research:

Driver's mirror $169
Passenger mirror $99
Power Window Switch - $23

I've asked him to check on the part numbers that you listed.

How much do you think your electrician's parts will run?

Thanks - my installer thinks around $200 for his parts/labor but he is going to have to work his way thru the job the first time maybe I can get him to describe how he did the install and share it with you guys - or maybe you can come to Marquette MI and have Charlie do your install.

I am still at it! I received my Wiring Diagram book from www.helminc.com and can tell you that the book is extensive.

I reviewed the wiring diagram for the power folding mirror and I believe I can get it to work. I plan to purchase the PFMM (Power folding mirror module) and place this under the dash or some other convenient location.

What I have to figure out is how to wire a new wire into existing connector switch. Is this possible or do I have to order a new harness with the connector?

On another note – hooking up the puddle lamp might be a bit more difficult as the wiring splice appears to be in the left hand kick panel. Honestly, if I get the power fold to work I could care less about the lamps.

Let me know where you buy your PFMM and what it cost please - My installer says it's not necessary but if it's not too expensive I might buy one anyway.

GOOD NEWS!!!I found a dealer who is able to indentify and price [below retail] the parts we need for power folding mirrors.

The dealer is: Signature Lincoln Mercury
3030 E. Sahara Ave.
Las Vegas, NV 89104
800-876-3280 x233

Ask for Tim Viera - Senior Parts Counterperson.

Tim quoted me prices for both power fold mirrors, the switch and the relay [Power folding mirror module part #5L3Z 17L684-AA].

Hey - it's not a Ford store.

I've been following the thread. You've guys done a lot of good work. Any more progress? Just lost my driver's side mirror to a salt truck and this is the time to upgrade!

I'm ordering parts from a Lincoln Merc dealer in Vegas who has been really helpful. If you want to convert to power folding mirrors you need to buy power folding mirrors - driver side and passenger side, a switch and [I think] a relay or power folding mirror module. I have part numbers for everything but the switch -I had the wrong part # on the switch - which I will have next week. Once you get the parts you need to find an installer - or a dealer who will install - I could not find a dealer who could/would install so I will have my local stereo/remote starter/security system installer do the job. There is an electrical schematic available which shows a qualified person how to wire the system - or maybe you can do it yourself?

Let me know if you need more info.

By the way it's good to be back on the Forum again after mysteriously becoming unregistered for a few days [second time].

Hey Bob, the puddle lamp is the least of my worry. I also know you can buy the little socket deals that you criimp on the wire and then plug into the plug. I still dont see the need for the module. I unplugged the mirror from the module and made it work. My mirror switch looks like it will work. It has all the metal pins in it that the kr switch does. I have not had time much to mess with it but keep me posted.

Thanks for the info, Bob.

I talked with the parts guy at my dealer and he quoted $125 each for driver and passenger power folding mirror. I'll have to call again about the PFM(?). If you have better prices, I'm more than interested. Also, could you pass along the part numbers too:
srh545@adelphia.net.

When I get my remote starter installed tomorrow, I'll asked my stereo guy if he can do it.

Thanks for the help
