3rd Check Engine Issue - P2450 error code
Hello all,
I have a 2015 F150 XLT with 2.7 EB.
Check engine came on at about 10k miles. Dealer first told me could be linked to the cap less fuel tank. They showed me where funnel is behind the seat and said if check engine comes on to push the funnel in the cap less fuel opening, to help ensure there is a seal.
Now at 28k check engine back on. Dealer said it was P2450 code. Took for service last week, dealer said there was a carbon build up at gas cap (didn’t provide any more detail other than I was told every vehicle as carbon buildup). After service, the check engine light was off but they never told me what they did to actually fix any issue. They said I may be ok, but might have to come back if the light came back on.
Drove the truck away, next day check engine light on again (3rd time now). Called the dealer back, tried to work directly with service manager and was told to bring it back in. Was told check engine lights can mean many things and they need to look at the truck again. Was asked if I use 87 octane, said yes, was what the owner’s manual recommended. Was told might want to use 89 would make the truck run better and be preventative. Was also told to run tank down and fill up with 93 once. Was told check engine could be linked to a bad batch of gas and to get gas from major fuel providers.
I know the forum is monitored by ford service representatives, I am hoping that I can make contact with someone to discuss outside my local dealership. Hopefully there is a regional service manager I could talk to? There were also other service issues I had with the visit, I would very much like to pass along from a customer service perspective. To be honest, with the light on for the 3rd time I am losing confidence the dealer will be able to resolve.
Thank you in advance!

Carbon build up on the gas cap? And in a capless system?
From what I read it's an evaporative system issue.

Scott/PSU1823:
I just filled up with Mobile 87 Octane and about a day later the check engine light came on. with a 36 gallon fuel tank it will take a while to empty the tank. I will say, I getter better mileage with 90octane and 93octane and especially without ethanol. However, the additional cost of the more expensive gas does not justify the better mileage. In the mean time, I have a dealer appointment in 2 weeks. Thanks!!!!

I think you need to take this to a different stealership!

The only time you should need to use premium gas in an Ecoboost is when towing.
