Changing #1 bank 1 O2 sensor need help!

Any suggestions on how to change this sensor. I can barely see the wire plug and cannot reach it or unhook it.I can't break the sensor loose without using a breaker bar and that's a maybe. 04 F150 Lariet super crew 155,000 miles .

I've changed O2 sensors twice on my '04 F150 in its 220k miles. The ONLY way I've been able to do it is to remove the RF Wheel and inner plastic fender well. Then with a helper - one underneath driving a ratchet with offset O2 socket and the other reach over the frame & place the socket on the O2 Sensor. Once its broke loose, repeat the process putting the offset O2 socket on the damn thing about 1/4 turn at a time till you can screw it out. You can unplug & plug it back in from the wheel well behind the bell housing, but it is for sure a PITA.

Good Luck

Thank you! I rolled around under it trying to figure it out this morning. I tried to remove right front wheel and I guess Ford torqued them so tight I couldn't break them loose with a 4 way and a pipe. Tried to remove inner fender anyway. Put it back together and got a MAF sensor instead of O2 sensor. Seems like it runs better but CEL came back on. Checked codes at Oreilleys it said MAF before I put new one in. Last time it said P2195 . It's different every time I check it. Last time it said some kind of intake heater. Maybe it's time to take it to a garage.

I thought about getting some 16" needle nose pliers and screw driver to unplug it.

I HATE IT when a garage or tire shop hammers lug nuts on so tight no one could get them off with the spare lug wrench if we have a flat on the road!

I'm afraid that P2195 (Bank1 O2S1 stuck lean) is going to definitely be that O2 sensor you're struggling with.

I'm going to try the long needle nose and screw driver. If I can get it unpluged I think I ccn get the sensor out the bottom.

If you can feel the clip that has to be pressed to separate the plug, you should be able to pull against the wiring harness with the O2 sensor pigtail using one hand (which is definitely ALL that you can get in there). Perhaps you can inspect the new sensor pigtail to get an idea where the clip is and how it presses.

Going back - I remember - when I got it ligned up, I was able to get the pigtail plug against the heal of my hand and squeeze harness plug with index & middle finger - and felt it click.

Thank you! I was thinking I could crush it with the pliers if the screw driver wouldn't release it. Don't want to ruin the other end of the plug.

Check for vacuum leaks. An exhaust leak before the O2 sensor can also trip a lean code.

I went to a garage 15 minutes they said intake manifold gaskets leaking. Will fix it for $493.18. Is that a good price and is it hard to do it yourself? Ford garage wanted about same money.
