Tips on truck going to sit

Race Track is/was selling alky free gas. Expensive but absolutely necessary if your truck is going to sit. E10 ALWAYS has water in it and the ethanol will draw more water out of the atmosphere. When sitting, the water will settle out and cause all kinds of corrosion and other problems. You should run your tank down to empty and then refill with alky free fuel and run that for awhile to get all of the E-crap out of your injectors and fuel system. You should also FILL the tank to help mimimize condensation inside the tank. You should probably jack the truck up and support it on jack stands under the FRAME to keep the weight off of the tires and springs. Tires especially will develop flat spots from sitting. Back wehn they wrote REAL manuals, MB used to recommend that for long term storage cars be waxed with a heavy coat of wax and that the wax not be rubbed off until it's taken out of storage to help protect the paint and prevent rust in any nicks and scratches. Make sure that your storage location is sealed and that mice, rats, squirrels, and rabbits can't get in. Rabbits will eat the hoses and wiring in the engine compartment and rats, etc will get into the vehicle through vent holes and eat the wiring, pull the stuffing out of the seats and will built nests inside your truck and **** all over everything! I would remove the battery entirely and either just go ahead and get rid of it or you could try keeping it alive by putting a trickle charger on it. Grease up the battery terminals and the battery clamps so that they don't corrode and you would have a problem with that when you return. Slather on the Armor All, or what every you use, on all of the rubber that you can get to to help prevent it from drying out and cracking. Of course, CLEAN the hell out of the underside of the vehicle and dry it WELL to help prevent rust. Pay special attention to the doors, the front fenders and any other place that might hold debris and/or moisture. Spraying the underside with heavy oil and/or wax to protect the metal would probably help if you can manage it.
