DarrenWS6's 2013 F-150 FX4 Supercrew!
Well it has finally happened. After a couple years of wanting to get into a 5.0L truck, I set my mind on a very specific truck and found it. Out of all the trim packages and configurations available in the 2011/2014 line-up I decided I wanted an FX4 Luxury pkg, blue flame, supercrew with 6’5 bed F150. I have bought an ATV, a Trans Am, and a Cobalt SS hindering my timely purchasing but finally got a couple things paid for and found the right truck for the right price!
I found quite a few of these trucks over the last year. Mostly 2011/2012 models with 5'5 beds but were priced great. 2013/2014s were a bit too rich for me. This year since 2017s are around the corner it seems 2013/2014 are becoming better priced. October 14th I sold my 2007 Lariat Supercrew w/ 129,6xx miles to a friend for $10,000. Turning down trade in offers of $8,500 and $9,000 I would rather my friend take it for a mere thousand more. Once he said he was approved the money I jumped online and found the truck I gave up on because they only wanted to offer me $8,500 dollars on trade. They informed me someone was trying hard for finance approval but hours later they told me I was next in-line. I put a $500.00 deposit down and picked it up 7 days later. So low and behold, I now own it!
2013 Supercrew, 6’5 bed, FX4 Luxury pkg. 42,8xx miles and cost me $32,102. It has the 20” wheels and the towing mirrors. It has the 3.73 gear ratio & e-locking rear, My Ford Touch with navigation, Sony sound, Ford spray-in bed liner, engine block heater, and I believe it has the 36 gallon fuel tank as well. Only option it does not have is the moonroof and I am not bummed out about it. Now onto the photos.
I don't have much for interior pictures but here are a couple I snapped while we were stuck in a traffic jam. I love these mirrors for their usability.
I’m very happy to get into this truck. Getting a very option specific used vehicle can be difficult. The updated 2013 features such as the headlamps, My Ford Touch, the more organized/cleaner dash lay out, and the ability to lock the rear in 2wd are just awesome. I’m thrilled to have the Supercrew cabin with the more usable 6’5 bed for hauling stuff. My ’07 5’5 with the Leer hard lid made things a pain to haul. Taking it off repeatedly was just out of the question.
I have so far put the chrome 3157 bulbs from my ’07 into the ’13, and the V-leds 194 license plate bulbs. Otherwise I intend to order Weathertech liners, window tint, and probably the Rough Country leveling kit. To my understanding, 2” will level it perfect. I am sort of intrigued with the Rough Country 2.5” level with replacement rear block for a little more height. Thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks for checking the new truck out!

Forgot to include a "ramble n' show" video.
We used the in-dash navigation to get us back home, it definitely has it . I made sure before I ever considered the truck that the top right corner said 'Navigation' and not 'Information' like my girlfriends 2012 Focus does. I wish we knew that before she bought it April 2015.
In my above video the 9:00 minute mark I hit the Navigation button.

Congrats. Great price too!
You know anything about the service history?
As far as level. I would not consider a 2.5" and I think even a 2" is pushing the factory geometry too much.
If it was my truck and my desire to lift a little. Id spend the coin on Bilstien 5100s and adjust them to 1.5" to level with the slightest bit of rake

Very nice! I love the blue flame. Only other color I personally would go for is race red. I think I'm done with Black and DD's.
I've done a bunch of little things to mine. Top 3 favorite are the 2" level (although I'll be ditching for coil-overs. Likely going with Fox 2.0's to match the rears. The Hellwig sway bar and PTM/Hydrodip projects.
As mentioned, going beyond the 2" level is not recommended by reputable shops. Really hard on the ball joints.
If you have any questions, just ask.
You will love the truck, the 5.0 is miles ahead of the 5.4.
Be sure to post the mods as they come along!
done a couple of things since this pic, but it's pretty recent.

Thanks for the compliments everybody!
I honestly love that the truck moves the seat back and forth. Since they did away with the assistance grab-handle guide i'm sure more folks are going to pull on the steering wheel to get in. I refuse to so the seat being further back is nice.
To much disappointment the truck did not even have an owners manual... I'm going to order one off eBay if the local salvage yard doesn't have one for a fair price.
There is a problem however, I do not know the keypad code. To very much disappointment the truck did not have an owners manual in it... Got to love pre-owned auction vehicles. This also means I do not have a second key. I will get one in the future. As far as the keypad code goes, I googled and found a video of a fellow explaining it is on a module at the passenger side kick panel. This was a 2009 truck, I imagine it is still valid for 2013? Much like the '04/'08 being on the module behind the rear seat back rest.
Unfortunately no I don't. I want to have the dealer check the VIN for recalls and such. I'm going to change the oil soon since I don't know what's in it, I want to keep it to motorcraft 5w20.
Ok, 2" it will be. I don't want to upgrade the struts just yet. But then again I don't know. It feels floaty like stock and the Rancho set I had previously felt nice. My 2004 I had Bilsteins in and thought it was too firm. I have Bilsteins in the Trans Am and both my Cobalt and Trans Am have Eibach springs. Perhaps I will love the Bilsteins now.
Beautiful truck! The blue looks incredible. I'm loving it every day.
Sounds good, 2" it will be. I've noticed folks like the hellwig sway bar. I'll add that to my plotting list.

Purdy truck, Darren!
You can download an owner's manual for the 2013 free here: http://www.restcure.ca/2013%20Ford%2...s%20Manual.pdf
I have one of these for my truck on my laptop, even though I also have a paper version in the glove box.
