Long time Ford F150 owner, new to the forum.

I have a quick question. I'm thinking about upgrading to the 2009-2011 body year. I currently have a 2005 F150 4x4 supercab with the 5.4 motor. I have changed and survived the sparkplug problem and its running great. But if I go to the next generation what problem areas will I need to look out for? I'm planning on getting a trailer for work nothing big but I'm wondering between the 5.4 motor from 2009-2010 and in 2011 they went to 5.0 that has way more power and better gas milieage. It wiser to pay more for a 2011 or save and get the 5.4?
I want to change to a supercrew which weighs more but the one platinum supercrew 4x4 with the 5.4 drove underpowered. I thought that maybe a supercrew fx4 might have more beans. What are your thoughts on overrall reliability?

I had a 2005 5.4 with 135,000 miles, then a 2011 5.0 with 85,000 miles and now a 2014 5.0 with 41,000 miles. All Supercrews. I would hold out for the 5.0. I loved my 2005 and had no issues with the 5.4 but the 5.0 is much more responsive even over the tuned 5.4. I felt no need to get a tune with the 5.0 and get about 4 more mpg over the 5.4.

Thanks for the reply. Did you ever use your 05 or 11 for towing? That gives me a lot to think about.
