O/D shudder, 2006 5.4
I've read a ton of posts on this, with the culprits being the torque converter, plug or coils. I started with coils and it didn't fix it. My question is, if it was a misfire, would I see it on the tac or is it happening too fast to register? Same question for the converter slipping.
Thanks!

Only one that reads Mode $06 or "live" data. Check the specs. I use my Android phone, a cheap BT OBDII adapter, and a $5 app.
Seriously!!!?? You messed around with the coils but left the plugs undone???

At 90k, a bad coil is very unlikely. The OEM coils last a lot longer than the plugs. You should have changed the plugs at 60k.
If you replaced the coils with anything other than Motorcraft, Visteon, Denso, or Delphi, don't expect them to last very long. I'd change the plugs, put new boot and spring kits on the original coils, and reinstall them.

Mine does the OD shudder. I'm not convinced it's a plug/coil issue. Maybe changing those items fixes it, but I'm skeptical. I've taken to driving mine with OD turned off unless I'm on a road with a 55mph or higher speed limit. Other wise it refuses to shift properly. My Acura shifts aggressively, a lot, up or down. The F150 hurries and shifts into 4th gear at around 50mph. Which is unfortunate when on 45mph roads. Any time I let off the gas and then back on it, it will start to shudder unless I stomp the gas and make it downshift. So I just turn OD off. I don't even want to think about taking the plugs out. My mechanic friend swears at least 6 will break off! He says he's never had less than 3 break on any Ford F150 plug replacement.

Yup, the usual suspects. I tell people this all the time. Almost always get the same skepticism. The ones I hear back from offer their thanks for finding the real problem.
Also know that if you let this get bad enough before you fix it that it can definitely break the stub shaft in the transmission. So self-fulfilling prophecy. You can actually get a transmission issue to go along with your misfire.
