Bought The 2008 Taurus.....!!!

Looked at the car this afternoon and it was in unbelievable condition.....

Took it for about a 20-mile test drive and loved the way it rode and thought the 3.5 Duratec moved it along very well. The perforated leather interior was butter-soft and in perfect condition. According to the owner, the moon roof had never even been opened. The trunk was spotless and looked as if there had never even been anything back there!

The exterior of the vehicle looked like a car with only 3200 miles on it. No sign of aggressive swirl marks and the rims were absolutely spotless. There were a couple of minor aesthetic flaws that should be easy to correct:

- Some minor rub marks in a few spots around the car that should be easy to compound out.
- A few minor scratches in the truck lift-over area -- this should be easy to buff out.
- Some "tire-stop rash" on the lower black plastic air dam -- it should be easy to find and replace this part.
- A pretty good "hickey" on the driver's side painted mirror cap -- I'll have to have this repainted to correct.

The owner kept all of the paperwork and service receipts for the car since it was new. Some interesting tidbits from poring over this information here in the hotel room tonight:

- Window sticker shows a build date of 08/01/07 in Chicago.
- Vehicle was purchased from Battlefield Ford on 12/28/07.
- Original sale was financed over 72-months at a payment of $437.81.
- Owner took it for it's state inspection the week after Christmas every year.
- Factory battery was replaced under warranty within the first month of ownership.
- First oil change performed at the dealer in December of 2008 at 652 miles.
- Brake-light switch was replaced under warranty in December of 2008.
- Second oil change performed at the dealer in October of 2009 at 976 miles.
- Third oil change performed at the dealer in August of 2010 at 1127 miles.
- Fourth oil change performed at the dealer in June of 2011 at 1704 miles.
- Fifth oil change performed at the dealer in January of 2012 at 2142 miles.
- Sixth oil change performed at the dealer in January of 2014 at 2750 miles.
- Seventh oil change performed at the dealer in August of 2014 at 2940 miles.
- Eighth oil change performed at the dealer in December of 2015 at 3217 miles.
- When I was done with my test drive today, mileage sat at 3266 miles.

Long story short -- I'M HOPING LIKE HECK THE WIFE DECIDES THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THIS CAR THAT SHE DOESN'T LIKE SO I CAN PUT THIS BABY IN MY ROTATION OF LOW-MILEAGE "TOYS"
.....

Those oil changes sounds like my mom's cougar. 99 model with 11k on it and it gets changed about every 650 miles every year when inspection is due.

Glad ya got it, have a feeling it going straight to the garage uh?

I'm surprised your mom even puts that much mileage on her car.....???

Where it ends up will all depend on whether the wife decides she wants to use it for her daily driver. Let's just say I'm trying to influence her decision to drive the Escape another year or two and then replace it with a new one.....

She's driving it more, now it's every 3 days for 6 miles. Since the fuel pump went out a year or 2 ago. The guy told her to drive it more, so instead of driving it once a week for 12 miles it now twice a week but still enda up at 12 miles a week . It's only been out of Angelo 1 time, she drove it to Brady when it was new to visit my grandma.

Post some pics when you get it home.

Wink

They are nice cars. I think the '08 Taurus replaced the Five Hundred, right? Can't remember for sure. A few years ago I was looking at them when I came across an '02 Mercury Grand Marquis Ultimate that was a one owner, looked new with very low miles. Couldn't pass it up. Which model did you buy? Being perforated leather, I would guess the Limited? Is it front or All Wheel Drive? All Wheel drive would be Killer...
Ooops, just looked at your other thread, Very Nice!

"I change my oil every 350 miles or 8-10 months, whichever occurs first"

Congrats on this find and the new addition.

I found a 89 bronco in town today with 12,000 miles on it. That would be a better option for your collection

I have a few bricks left from the demo of the Ford dealer I worked at. I think that's more collectable than any 87-91 Bronco/F series

They aren't my favorite style but 12k miles is pretty impressive. I liked the 80 to 86 myself. I'd think there will always be money in the bronco no matter the year.

Yeah -- I'm always flabbergasted at the prices well-maintained Broncos go for! There are very few of them left out there that haven't been very well used, so 12,000 miles is pretty impressive!

They want 10k for it. Honestly didn't think it sounded to bad.
