Was it a 2004 F150 trim or 2003?

Was it a 2004 F150 trim or 2003?
OK, so I've heard and read the Heritage Edition F150 was the left over 2003 models re-badged and declared the Heritage Edition for the early 2004 model year. I thought I'd post here as maybe some of you with the 2004 Heritage Edition may know more.
But 48 hours ago, I bought a 2003 F150 4x4 Supercab Heritage Edition. It has the special two tone paint job (it was offered in Black/Silver and Black/Burgundy - I think) and the 100th Anniversary 1903-2003 Heritage Edition Badges. (click on my album to see a close up of the badge).
The door says it was manufactured 09/2002 as a 2003. So it would not seem the Heritage Edition was an afterthought to use up the left over 2003 models.
Does anyone know anything more on the Heritage Edition? All I know is I love the looks and drive of this truck and am happy to join the F150 family...

I think this sums it up...
Just got this answer from another member at another F150 forum...
"I actually still have a 2003 F-150 book from the dealership and the truck you purchased was a special truck they offered in 2003. The name was used to celebrate 100 years of F-series trucks. Too bad they decided the following year to just go ahead and use the name again for the leftovers!" -- Darth Bama
So by definition, the 2003 is the true representation of the "Heritage Edition" commemorating 100 years 1903-2003 as it is stated on the badge.
Just another reason to love my truck...

Ok, here is the REAL story:
In 2003 there was a special package (from Ford, a-la HD and KR) called the "heritage" edition. It had some special (large gaudy) badges, special interior and colors.
The 2004 F150 Heritage (not to be confused with the heritage edition) was the old 97-03 body style available in ONLY STX, XL and XLT in standard cab and supercab only. Visibly they looked just like the 97-03, and the only sporting feature was solid amber front turn signals instead of the clear with amber reflective of the previous. They were basicly selling leftover bodies in 2004 in base model trim.
dont believe it, look it up

The purpose of the 2004 "Heritage" editions was not to "use up" old truck bodies -- it was because 2004 was the year completely new underpinnings and a completely new body style were introduced for the F-150.
It is difficult to handle such major conversions of all plants at once, so Ford continued building the "old" truck at certain plants in 2004 until all of the factories producing the F-150 were gradually converted over to manufacturing the new vehicle.
One of the concerns Ford had was that any extended or unforeseen down time attributable to the plant conversions could have cut into production enough to create product shortages at the dealer level and potentially end the F-series decades-long reign as the best-selling vehicle in the US.
I suspect MOST of the Heritage editions were aimed at less style-conscious fleet sales with the hope of keeping up with the more profitable demand for the new truck in individual sales.
