Unhappy Truck Is Down

went to deerfield sunday(62 miles or so). got to stop sign at end of off ramp....and truck just shut off. buzzing sound behind the dash, and no crank, no start. had it towed home and been at the dealership(where i work) since. techs cant locate the problem yet. one says abs module($1300), another says cant be....wouldnt make the truck not start(he's thinking pcm). any thoughts?

Has anyone tried disconnectiong the battery for about 30 minutes ? What did the Diagnostic Bay equipment indicate ? Sounds like the techs(for lack of a better word) are guessing. Get out the meter & logic flow charts.

shop foreman says its definately not the abd module now. he is leaning towards the pcm...but has more pinpoint tests to do. at least the pcm is a lot cheaper than the abs module!!

The buzzing sound is most likely a relay turning on and off. Locate the source. A poor ground will also cause the GEM to buzz. Check the grounds behind the kick panel and the battery ground.

yeah, tech figures its a bad ground or power wire. he just needs to find it.

Kick panel grounds -

There's two behind the drivers side kick panel - also if a 75 watt Mega Watt fuse goes (you have two) the motor will die..

Good Luck

LOL , well I hope they find the problem - fast - there more pricey than that rental

When those freakin MEGA fuses go , they don't just go lol .. What I mean is that they can break inside and contact each other just momentarilly - enough to get it to crank once in awhile. I never liked those things , that just makes it hard to determin the problem. Heres a pic of them so you know what I'm refering to -

ok, here's the 411 as of 430 when i left work: the engine will not crank at all...and the pcm relay just makes a buzzing noise. when the relay is pulled from the fuse box in the passenger kick-panel, the engine will crank, but not start. there is power at the pcm somehow, buit there are no codes being thrown.

jbrew: thanks for that info. the picture didnt help too much because the fuse panel you took a picture of on your firewall is not in the same spot on my 03, so we have to dig some more. hopefully they found something after i left, or will have better luck tomorrow.

tech followed the ground cables and such, and they led to what appears to be a faulty fuse box in the passenger compartment....so i ordered it for tomorrow, and should hopefully be driving it home after my shift.
