What kind of gas mileage is everyone getting

I have a 2004 F-150, crew cab, 2wd, K&N Intake kit, BFG 285/75-17, automatic, 3" Donahoe racing coilovers (front), Fox shocks (rear). I'm averaging around 14-15 miles to the gallon (driving like a grandpa). And 16, maybe 17 with the stock tires. I'm pretty sure this is normal, but is anyone getting anything better? Or are there any tricks to getting better mileage, as far as parts or modifications?

I have a 06 5.4 Scab 4x4 Lariat that only has 750 miles on it. I get between 11 and 13 in the city and 14 to 17 on the highway. I know it will improve a tad when i get 2 or 3 thousand on the clock. But what cracks me up is this. My first F150 was a 1979 reg cab 302 4x4. It got 12 in town and 17 on the highway. Geez you would think after 27 years Ford could have figured out a way to improve gas economy at least a little bit.
Right now I am ok at 3 bucks a gallon, but if it goes to five or six I am screwed.

I have been testing Ethos fuel reformulator so I have been recording my gas mileage:

The last Four trips have been:

1. 14.421 MPG
2. 14.770 MPG
3. 15.008 MPG ( With the 8 ounces of Ethos )
4. 15.067 MPG ( With 2 ounces of Ethos )

I have to make a road trip which will skew the results of the next tank and I plan to get brand new tires soon so any results I post after the new tires will be invalid unless I start using the ethos again. My guess is that any improvement in MPG on my truck is mostly due to a cleaning effect. I use SeaFoam on occasion so it looks like Ethos had minimum impact on my MPG.

That road trip without Ethos increased the MPG.

5. 16.269 MPG ( 200 miles highway, 83 miles normal habit driving )

I am now testing with new Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo P265/70 R17 tires running at 40 PSI. I plan to change the oil after this tank of gas.

My driving pattern is mostly 7.5 miles to work and 7.5 miles home with some ocassional city driving ( stoplights and stop signs ).

Vehicle being tested is a 1999 F150 Extended Cab 4x4 with a 5.4L engine, 265/70R17 tires.

Gas Mileage

I am getting 16.5 for the last 1200 miles on my 2006 KR Screw and I have installed JBA Ceramic Coated Headers and a SI/DO Magnaflow SS Exhaust. This is a computer generated average based on driving around town and on the highway with highway speeds averaging 65 and town speeds 30-40 depending on the road. On a 350 mile trip a few weeks ago with almost all highway driving at 65-70 mph the average was 17.2.

I have a 01 XLT supercab two wheel drive 7700 sreies with 5.4 liter, with a K&N air intake and I get around 19 to 20 on highway as long as I don't go over 70 Mph. In the city it still sucks thouhg with premium gas being over 3 dollars here.

I average 15 to 16.5 in the city. The best is 19.1 on hwy (amsoil 0w30). On that trip, the truck had 3900 miles on it. 2005 Lariat 4x4 S.crew.

I do not know if it had anything to do with the lube changes or not, but it beats (or did beat) my brother's XLT 4x4 S.crew before he did lube change. We bought our trucks 3 days apart.

My entire system has Amsoil in it (front/rear diff., transfer case, entire tranny 15 quarts, and motor). Did change over the day before we left for trip. Bro just changed all his to Royal Purple and noticed his increased somewhat. Currently he has 20K miles and gets about what I do. Mine has 17K miles.

I get 12 to 14 city depending on how heavy my lead foot is for city driving and I get around 18.5 highway. I drive a 05 XLT 4x2 reg cab with the 5.4 and 3.55 gears still currently bone stock.
