Question Lowering questrion!!!

I was looking at my rear suspension, I got to wondering, Why couldn't you flip you rear Hangers to acheive a lower stance in the rear end. It looks possible. Has anyone ever attempted or thought about it? It would be cheaper than buying hangers and shackles.
Or for that matter has anyone ever lowered their rear end without buying a kit???

How about relocating the springs to under the rear axle?

Cool

Just remeber you have to cut the hangers off and punch out the revits that hold the hangers on. So if you decided to flip the hanger becareful not to damage it or you may end having to buy after market hangers anyway.

There are serious fundamental flaws in this idea. I tried to put it into words, but it's too complicated. Plus, look where the spring eye rests - right about in the middle of the frame. Turn the hanger around and the eye is still in the same place.
It wouldn't be possible to just flip it anyway, the bottom of the hanger is about 6-8" below the frame (working from pictures here), and there is only about 2-3" between the frame and the bed. So there isn't room to flip it upside down.

They can however be relocated:

You'll be so pi$$ed at the original hangers by the time you get them off, you won't want to reinstall them.

So you are saying that it would work? I haven't looked to see if the current rivet hols would line back up. Do you know if it would work?
Also, is there any drive shaft alignment problems with that?

How low are you right now since you made those hangers? Also, do you have a Pic from below? I have a 98' STX that I want 3-4inch lower.
