Post Lower to level with the ground or with the rear lifted a little higher?

I notice most of the photos of lowered L's have the truck lowered to level with the ground.

The "rake" of the rear higher than the front gives the truck an aggressive stance that I want to maintain.

Other than aesthetics, is there any reason for lowering to a level position?

Has anyone lowered and kept the rear higher, and do you have photos?

Thanks, I'm just a couple of weeks away from doing this and I don't want to mess up...

IMHO the "lowered level look" just looks cool

Trabuco, If you want the back look lower than the front for that look you can install the Bell Tech 3/4. That is what I did at first to my L. and I had that look.

Better weight distribution. The trucks are front heavy and by leveling the ride it is better balance. Not 50/50 but closer to it than stock.

OK, but stock is raked. If I drop the front and the back the same distance isn't this maintaining the stock posture? I notice the kits drop the back more than the front to get the level posture.

It will drive and handle just like stock. Maybe even a little better. You would only notice a difference under extreme driving conditions such as on a road race course. Street driving it will be fine.

Thumbs up

trabuco-

Like you, I wanted to lower my truck, but still keep the aggressive rake that it came with when stock.

I took my Lightning to a local suspension shop, and ended up with a 2.5" drop up front (using a custom modified OEM lower A-arm and coil spring) and a 3.5" drop in back (using the DJM shackle and hanger). With new KYB shocks, my truck rides and handles LOTS better than before. Take a look, and let me know if you have any questions: http://rcarino.home.mindspring.com/lightning_drop.htm

(Pictures aren't great, but I hope to get more next weekend at the Woodburn, OR dragstrip with the other Northwest Lightnings & owners.)

I have AIM 2" Drop Shackles in the back and the L sat pretty much level. I just installed Bell Tech springs (#4804)in the front. My 00 now measures (ground to top of wheel well) 30-1/4" in the front and 31-3/4" in the back. It has pretty much the same rake as the factory setup only lower. Rides and handles great. I haven't taken any new pics yet. Good luck.

I have some belitech shackles to level my truck with. I am doing it mostly to get rid of the big opening between the tire and fender.
