Post What All Is Needed To Lower My L 1 Inch In The Front?

I have just installed 2" drop shackles and now would like to lower the front 1 inch to give it a slight rake. I would like to know what all is needed to do this? I just ordered from Summit 2" drop Eibach springs
(Part # 3576520) for a 1997-00 F150. Will this lower my L 1 inch in the front? Also do I need camber adjusters when I do the alignment or will a basic alignment get everything back in order?

Thanks,

HANKFAN

No the 2 inch coil, your L. will remain the same you have to go with a 3 inch coil in order to lower your L. You should go with the 3 inch coil from Bell Tech or someone on the Classifieds is selling 3 inch coils check it out!
Yes you will have to buy a camber kit because any time you change the drop or realign the L. you need to buy the camber kit for alignment.

I thought that the Lightning was only lowered one inch from the factory.

Hankfan, You are right the L. from the factory is lowered 1 inch lower than a stock F-150. I lowered my L. first with the Bell Tech 3 inch coils it lowered my 1 inch I wasn't happy so I installed the the Western A-arms which made my L. another 2 inches lower. DJY

DJY, Did you install camber adjusters when you changed your coils?

Hankfan, Yes I did install the Camber Kit when I changed the coils! I got the Camber Kit from the Ford Dealer and a Mechanic installed the Camber Kit when he did the Alignment.

Hankfan, My L. is lowered 4 inches in the rear. I used the Bell Tech Shackles and Hanger kit and DoeTsch Tech shocks.

??? I don't know for sure, but I think this is one of those deals where one company's 2" drop might give the L app. 1", but other companies might give less. Tolerances, spring rates, measurement procedures, etc....

BTW, DJY, remember me from your earlier post? Thanks for answering my similar questions then. Friday, I finally got brave and ordered Western Chassis 2" drop control arms (through SportTruckDirect.com). I'm not going quite as low as you--only the arms in front, and the 4" hanger/shackle in back.

LightStruck, All this lowering stuff to me is trail and error! All the companies I purchased parts from really only had lowering kits for stock F-150's. I think that 2 inch A-arms from Western Chassis that might be the way to go to lower your L. 2 inches in the front. Good Idea! Please update me on how the A-arms came install came out. Yes Sport Truck Direct does sell a Alignment kit. I already got a Camber Kit from the Ford Dealership when I did the 3 inch coils first.
