Question Does fuel pressure gauge tell A/F ratio

It seems like many people here are not impressed with the use of a/f ratio gauge, besides it being a cool light show, and are switching to a fuel pressure gauge.

Will that still tell you if you are running lean? If so, how does it work?

Wink

If you have no pressure you will be running lean.

So in a stoichiometric world (spelling??), what should the pressure read at WOT?

An EGT would be more helpful. The Autometer A/F gauge that you are reffering to isn't very accurate.

Well, the stochiometric air/fuel ratio is 14.7:1. The Autometer A/F gauge measures this based on input from the 02 sensors. To be truley accurate, you would need an EGT (exhaust gas temp.) setup that measures each header primary. We just installed such a system on my dad's comp dragster, but it is way out of budget for a simple street machine.

Unless you are planning on running a lot of spray or boost, I really don't see the need for any air/fuel meter on a street car. Can you hear detonation? On 93 octane with a good chip program detonation shouldn't be an issue.
