Radar Detectors Part#2

ok now we no that valantine makes the best
radar and is speeders first choice and bel is right behind a close second.
My question is do they make a cloaning
device that blocks out the signal all
together, i thought i may have surfed
the net some where along the way and
read something about it,has anyone seen this.

Joe,
I've heard of a product called the "Phazer" which is supposed to jam radar. I don't know how good it works or where to find it. I've heard advertisements on the radio in Huntsville, AL. If I hear it again, I will pay attention and post more info.

ALA,
How do you put those listings on the bottom of your message and how do you become a member not a junior member.

i know of a couple companies that make "jammers" but they are highly illegal in about 23 states. There should be a disclaimer somewhere if you find an ad. I know here in califonia the police do NOT look kindly on them and will guarantee you a ticket. the problem with the old ones is that they made the radar gun show "000" so they knew you were using one, but the new ones say "45" but that could still be obvious if you are doing 70 on the interstate passing cars and it reads "45"

I've heard a lot of good things about the Valentine One unit. The price is a little out of my range. What's the next best out there. I've always heard good things about Escort/Passport, but the initial posting mentioned BEL. Any opinions/prefernces? LM

Hogluvr: I had 3 Escort units and they lasted about 6months each. They were a pain because they also were going off. If the suction broke loose off the window and they fell they were broke! I now on a BEL and had it the last 3 years with no problems. THINK VALENTINE OR BEL! Thats my opinion

Indy, Thanks for the suggestion. I guess BEL will be the way to go for me. Just picked up the truck tonight & can hardly wait to put some miles on it.

Be careful about those "jammers". Not only are they illegal in most states, they have been known to actually improve the range at which the radar gun picks you up at...

Can someone who has the Valentine please tell me how the unit works with the remote module. I am looking for a unit that can be hidden with remote sensors?? It appears on the web page as two seperate units. I do not want to mount anything on my window or dash. Any information would be greatly
appreciated. Including other options. (i.e. other brands which work well)

Here are a couple links if you're looking into one of those "jammers": http://www.radar.co.nz/usa/usarticle4.html http://www.escortstore.com/jammer.htm http://www.multiline.com.au/~weldsupp/p8.html
I do not work for or endorse any of these companies. I only put this info out for you to read if you desire.
I will say that I have an electronics background, and was Navy trained as an avionics tech with specific air to air radar training, and I don't believe there is a single passive unit on the market that works.
I'll stick with my 3 year old Escort detector that has payed for itself tenfold in saved tickets...
