Squeaking Brakes
#5
I got mine fixed for $100. You have glazing on your brakes just like I did/ do. I took it into the dealership, they said "glazed brakes, normal". I took it back and said make it go away. They fixed it for $100. Basically, you just grind away the glazing and no more squeal.
Oh, the not so good part. 2 weeks later, it was back. Apparently, when you brake hard repeatedly, your brakes get hot. Then, I guess the brake dust itself glazes on the rotors and calipers. It does not affect braking at all, but it makes icky noise.
When I got my brakes redone (pads and rotors turned) they didn't squeal for about 3 weeks.
I think it has something to do with my habit of hard braking late heading into turns, trailbraking into them, accelerating out of them, hard braking, trailbraking, accelerating, etc. Plus, I always slow down coming up on blind hills and curves (to prevent being ambushed by LE officers or hitting animals/ disabled vehicles, etc.
Hope this helps. Some people say that they don't have the problems with other pads, but I think it is really more about how you drive it. I did notice that all the race cars at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving had the same problem, so maybe that is where I learned to glaze my brakes.

GalaxyEng,
That is what mine does. Very light pressure on the brakes results in a annoying squeal. More pressure less squeal. I have heard of some people changing the pads and it helps some, but not sure if it cures the problem totally! Hope this helps.
