Cool Way to improve radio sound

Everyone,

I took the first step to improving the stereo.

Out with the old......

In with the Alpine..

I am still awaiting delivery on the MB quarts. I mounted the head unit and a voltage monitor in the stock location. I plan on 6.5 components in the doors, and 5 1/4's in the rear.

The Alpine really rocks, 60x4 with BBE and CD text. I will put up some more pics when I get some good ones. 6 Disc changer in the factory location.

I still am undecided on the Subwoofer. I prefer razor clean sound over booming bass, so I am going to see if the quarts do it for me.

MAN, I don't know how it sounds but it looks great!!! I assume you had to go with the Alpine changer for compatability??? Did you have to modify anything to do the change?
Model nos please..........

F1 your slash (/) is going the wrong way. Change it to a forward slash and it should work.

The link has to work in a browser in order to work here. www.pauldavidson.COM is a valid domain but I cannot see any file called P5160479.JPG in any of the normal web
folders.

Once you get it posted right click on it choose properties, the path that is useable here will be listed on the address line, just select it and paste it here between the [IMG] .... [/IMG] tags.

Everyone,

Here is a parts list so far:

Alpine CDA7863 head Unit $349.
Alpine CHA-S624 6 disc Changer $279.

Got those From Speed/Sound Performance. As a reference, circuit city had the same 2 items for 85.00$$ more. it was 20$$ shipping for the 2 pieces.
www.speedsound.com.

Metra installation kit #99-5802 $14.

From Circuit City

Scosche PSCM.5D Remote Cap Monitor $59.

Direct from Scosche. www.scosche.com

Ford Din removal tool from crutchfield. 3.99

Swellc5, that is the remote cap mon on top. Although I don't have a cap, it looks better than a hole/tray above the din opening. If I go with a sub or 2, then I will put a cap in and run a better power setup. You wire it to positive, negative and remote turn on.

BTW, the head unit has auto dimming that you can program to your liking.

This is my 3rd Alpine unit (each of the last 3 vehicles I have owned) and I must say that they are awesome. Personally, I go with Alpine amps too.. they are a bit more $$ than other brands.

Hopefully the MB's will arrive this week so I can get them in. I plan on covering the tweeter with Black or Gray cloth from a pair of tights with Lycra. Sounds funny...But works great. Maybe CA can send me some...

Here is some more pics of the face unit:

Opening to insert a CD:

You can adjust the angle of the face, electronically:

The changer in the stock location. Its about 1 inch wider than stock, so I used black carpet to cover the hole around it:

BTW, to mount the changer, you can easily modify the supplied Alpine plastic brackets to fit the ford mounting screws.

ok ok,you guys are killin me here.So now i have to post! When i first got my L back in july last year,
the very first mod i did was the stereo,
i mean the truck didnt even have 500 miles on it when it was installed.
Here is the stuff that was used.
Dynomat(full cab)
Alpine Head Unit
Alpine V12 Amp(40x4)
Alpine V12 Amp(600x1)Both subs were bridged into 1 channel@2 ohms
Alpine DDDrive components(6.5"woofer,1"tweeter)Fronts
2 Boston Acoustics Pro Series Sub's 10"
2 Boston Acoustics Rally 5x7's
1 farad capacitor

Later this summer,i will be installing one of those motorized alpine units with the lcd screen.
Also being installed will be an Alpine 12disc Cd changer and an Alpine DVD
(the stereo installer said he can get both the head unit and the dvd in the dash).
Im also thinking about havin a custom amp rack built with some extra cooling fans built in.
Im still waiting to get my amp back from alpine,it smoked out on me about 2 weeks ago.At least 1 amp still works.
You guys should really consider the dynomat it makes a big difference.
Sorry for being so long winded.
