phooew, you got jipped. You paid for a 100hp shot & only got 99.8 hp increase. Thats like giving me $100 & me only giving you $99.80 back, I'll do that all day for you. Hey how 'bout this, i'll buy you a house but take the garage door with me. thats about 99.8% of a house. Would you be satasfied with that!?!?!?!

Dont put up with it take a stand call up NOS & tell them the results & that you want a refund of .20 for every hundred you spent on your system, or that they need to send you a whole new system (installed of course) & proof showing that you have 100hp more than stock!!!!!!!

just kidding, I cant wait until I can get mine

Im using a Nitrous Express kit for 5.0L Mustang. With the NX (wet system)kit you can get away w/o using an upgraded chip to count for using nitrous. I have not tried past 100hp shot yet, but im using an off the shelf Super chip flip chip with no detonation in sight. 1BADTK is using the same kit with the Super chip TRAC program and is succesfully running a 100hp shot. I should hopefully get a chance soon to dyno the truck and see the differnce in numbers

Question

Don't our L's have a returnless fuel system? i.e: no return line to the tank.

If so, I'm wondering to myself how a dry kit will work. I have a 5115-2 kit on my '96 Cobra. I'm familiar with wet kits as well. With the dry kit, it uses a nitrous regulator to pressurize the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator. The FP reg. is just like a diaphragm, so when its pressurized, it closes off and thus spikes fuel pressure to the rails. You then get more fuel per injector pulse width. This takes care of the fuel enrichment needed under nitrous activation.

Without a return line, I am not sure how it works.

If I get a chance I'll call Rick Anderson and ask him. Or, I'm sure DTopp can tell us. No matter what other people say, I believe NOS makes quality kits, and if the dry kit works then that's great. The install is a piece of cake.

The NX kit that the guys from near Houston are running looks _really_ good too!

Cool

Reference Nitrous Kits,

The NOS Nitrous Oxide System is part number 5115.

Make sure you buy a #47 jet for the nitrous fogger, and a #55 for the vacuum T.

Also DO NOT extend the 24 inch braided hose, which runs from the solenoid to the nitrous fogger. Make sure you mount the solenoids close enough to the fogger so the 24-inch braided line will reach.

On my 2000 L, stock truck with only the nitrous kit, dyno results showed 420 HP, with the air/fuel mixture at 11.5.

Now I have added a Swanson Performance Chip & Pro-M Mass Air Meter, which increased the HP to 464.6 and the air/fuel mixture was SUPER rich at 10.5.

I have now changed the vacuum jet to a #59, which hopefully is going to bring the air/fuel mixture to 11.5 to 12.0 and should increase horsepower 20-30 more.

Anyone have any more questions feel free to drop me an E-mail at:mjb1206@bellsouth.net.

This is a 100 horsepower kit!

Good Luck,

Matt

WA 2 FST, Our trucks do have a return line just like your Cobra and LX has. The NOS kit installs the same way pressurizing the fp regulator to increase fuel flow. My NX kit taps into the fuel press. port on the fuel rail and then onto the fuel solenoid supplied w/ the kit.

Thumbs up

Thx Stang58.

With all these new cars coming out with returnless fuel systems, I was just curious. For instance, I know the '99+ Mustangs all use returnless fuel systems as do the 99+ GM LS1 cars.

Renders things like FMUs and typical dry nitrous kits useless...gotta get custom programming.

Thanks again for the clarification.

FSUFAN:

Did you say when you were here that the nitrous only kicks in at certain RMP's and, if so, what controls this.

Everybody: CarParts.com has the 5115-2 kit for $648.85.

Thanks,

Rich

Hey Rich,

The nitrous is activated by a micro-switch which is mounted behind the gas pedal bracket about 6 inch above the actually pedal.

It sprays at wide open throttle.

Hope All Is Well On The West Coast,

Matt

Is the switch part of the NOS kit?
