Hey everybody, been a long time. Anyway, it looks like I have an intercooler leak to deal with (about a quart of fluid in 4 weeks)at 10,500 miles. I know that it's been covered on many threads, but my question is this: will Ford cover any intercooler or engine problems with an aftermarket filter(PSP)installed? I know that they don't like to see a chip, but just a filter? Any opinions or direct experience is appreciated. Also, is this pure coolant or 50/50.

If it were me bringing my truck back to Ford for that problem, I'd sure as heck put the stock filter back on. Don't give them any opportunity to deny your warranty, Moss Magnusun or not. I'm sure they would use any excuse to have you pay for this repair.

Hey Steve,

No worries! I just took my truck in with the intercooler leak problem and 18,000 miles on truck. I have JBA headers, chip and filter and they haven't said a word although we have a great relationship with my dealer since we have a fleet number with them.

If you know and trust your dealer you have nothing to worry about.

It is a 50-50 mix. If the dealer checks it and tells you to come back when the parts are in, drain the coolant and run strait H2O until it's fixed. This will help keep the plugs and O2 sensors from fouling until it is fixed.

Hey Steve- Like was said before, unless you have bought a fleet or the Service Mgr is your father-in-law, I would remove all hi-po parts. If Ford can and will pass the buck (the bill) to the owner. From what I can tell, Ford is going to have a very large bill for all the intercoolers they will be replacing. And no, mine hasn't shown any loss yet, just a matter of time Iam sure. Good luck with your dealer.

 

If you have a chip, and u remove it, can the dealer find out if you had it in? Juat wondering. With all the problems these trucks have, i'm hesitant to make any mods to it.
