Post Functional Ram Air Hood

I talked to a fellow Lightning owner and he said he heard a rumor that K&N Filters was working with an after market hood company. He did not know the name of this after market hood but said that it has two filters that sit closely to the top of the radiator and is designed to work with the generation II Lightnings. I did a search and cannot find this information for this hood. If anyone knows this is rumored to be true, please respond. I have found functional ram air hoods for Ford F150 but not specifically for the Lightning. I don't know if this guy was blowing smoke but he said there was a preformed plastic manifold with K&N filters designed to fit.

I read something about this but its been awhile. I never heard anything else.
It was in MM&FF. In I beleave a Jan, Feb or March issue. Sorry can't remember.
But yes two huge k&n air filters mounted right under the hood on top of the radiator.
It looked like a great setup but rain is my only concern. Hope this helps.

I spoke to Jim D'amore of JDM engineering. He is a lghtning tuner and told me last week that there is a functional ram air hood coming out for the lightnings and he said that it should be out this fall. did not get much more info. Jim D. has ran mid ten quarters in his 95 lightning which I'm not sure he has anymore and is currently running low 12's with his 99 bolt and he has not even got into the engine yet. he plans on putting the hipo heads on the L soon.

I believe that Cervini (sp?) has developed one, at least in MM&FF about 9 months ago they were testing a L with dual NACA ducts and dual K&N filters with a cold air package.
I'll look up the article and post the specifics.
It is in the February 2000 issue of MM&FF page 186, in the article "Lightning Strikes Again" Company is Cervini's Auto Designs http://www.cervinis.com and JDM Engineering, claims its good for another pound of boost, each Mach 1 style NACA Duct feeds a separate K&N filter http://www.cervinis.com/images/130_sm.jpg
or the large version at http://www.cervinis.com/images/130.jpg

The market seems to be picking up some speed; don't ya just love it. I, personally am really interested in what happens to the L with hi perf heads.
