Here is the deal I worked out with Bill from Filtermag.

All orders need to be placed with Filtermag directly. The telephone number is 1-800-345-8376. Ask for the "F-150 Online Discount" I am unaware of how long they will honor this arrangement as this was not discussed.

Out of curiosity, do they sell through retail channels (they must)? If so, I wonder how easy it is to simply go to a local Pep Boys, or the local car goodie shop and pick one up. For the couple of bucks that the group buy saves, one can probably get one as inexpensively at the store, if in fact they are sold that way. Thanks

I probably answered my own question. I telephoned Pep Boys, and Discount Auto Parts here in Orlando, and they were clueless. Read: Do not stock such an item. The guy at discount, after asking someone else, told me that they have a magnetic device that attaches to the oil drain plug. At he cost of 3 bucks it probably will last for at least a few miles of smooth driving.

After I ordered the mag. from Filtermag, I went to ALL the large auto parts stores, not to get a cheaper price but to get some information about the product to read.

And like you said, no one had even heard of the product or knew what I was talking about.

I know the price is steep BUT mags that truly have a lot of pull, COST. Look at the difference in speakers. Most of the cost in speakers relate to the size of the mag.

I have always gotten a "Whuuut the Hayll you talkin 'bout" look from nearly everyone i talk to about this. I honestly do not know if they sell retail.

I found this in a "new products" column in a 5.0 magazine about three years ago. The information I received with my order was an installation sheet/order form and an photocopied article from Super Chevy in which they tested one with favorable reviews, obviously.

It might not hurt to get ahold of some marketing propaganda from them. Might as well get it from the horses mouth.

 

You are preaching to the choir on that one. I can't tell you how many thousands I spent on my Mirage M1 speakers, and Velodyne sub woofer (it alone was $3500). I am surprised that they don't market the product more widely. I remember reading about one years ago for Harley Davidson's, but in all of my trips to swap meets, bikeweek, etc., I never ran into one for sale by a vendor. BTW, my new S&B filter arrived today.
