Cool ASP blower pulley

Picked up the ASP blower pulley and puller yesterday. Went to their shop in Stafford, Texas. They did not know if the puller worked on the Lightning blower because it was made for the Grand Am one. Hopefully I will have a chance to install it this weekend and post the results.
They gave me $40 off the entire deal, guess because I went and picked it up personally.

Cool

Got the pulley put on. Two man job. It is a close fit on the snout of the blower. Had to back it off just a hair for clearance. Does not jack with belt alignment. Gave me approximatly 2lbs more of boost. You can feel it!

If anyone in the Houston area decides to buy their pulley, they can borrow the puller that I bought. Save you $160.

Do you have any detonation problems with the chip/pulley/air filter?

Yoda,
Took the chip out over the holidays, was getting some detonation. Need to send it back for adjustment. No detonation with the filter and pulley.

Does the pulley actually connect to the blower or just another underdrive? Give us a run down on the installation. And where can I get the puller from?

Can you use the puller more then once and put the original pulley back on if it's part of the SC?

Cool

Metallic Blue,
The pulley replaces the existing blower pulley. The puller pulls the pulley off and pushes the new pulley on. ASP sells the puller for $160 online, pulley is $110. The installation time was about an hour, but if I had to do it again, probably 30min. The instructions with the puller show how to set it up (although they are for a Grand Am). It's pretty much pull it off, reverse it and push the new one on.
As I mentioned earlier, the pulley is a tight fit, had to back it off just a hair for clearance. Belt alignment is still cool and their is no rubbing. Just hard cranking that press-fit pulley on and off.

Cool

Mettalic,
Yes they do. http://www.autospecialties.com

The pulley is under "Street Pulleys" and then "New Products". There is not a price, but the cost is $110.

The puller is under "Accessories".

Keep us informed on how it performs and how the engine handles the extra load.

Do you currently have any other mods like Sals filter or chip?

How do you rate the quality of the ASP puller and pulley?

Cool

Plan on heading to my 1/8th mile track this weekend for their Street Racing night. Get some info back on that later.

The quality of the parts are great. The pulley looks exactly like the original, except smaller. And the puller looks and works like a champ. Made from machined pieces.

Question

How big is the pulley compared to stock? Would a smaller one fit? Scott

It is a smaller one. About 1/4 inch smaller in diameter (did not actually measure). Yes it fits, barely.

Cool

99SVT, I live in San Antonio but will be down in Houston several times this month. I'd like to take a look at your pulley install. Send me an email at fordtruck@mediai.com if that's cool with you.
