2003 Cobra BLOWN MOTOR & Ford VOIDED WARRANTY with only 300miles!!!
Hi guys, heres a good one for those of you who think we have it bad with ford voiding warranties for mods.
I have an '03 Cobra sitting on my lot with only 320 miles! It has a blown engine diagnosed at another dealership. That dealership contacted ford and claimed that the car has been abused! NO MODIFICATIONS! I can't even look at the car because Ford won't pay me to, the powertrain warranty has been voided. How much abuse can you do in 300 miles? The car was only 1 week old when it blew!
Here's the kicker, there are no remanufactured Cobra (03) engines available until September. If the owner wants to fix the car then he has to buy a NEW engine.
They have brand new engines available, but they cost$13,097.42 plus install labor!
This customer is looking at having $50,000 invested in this cobra and even then he probably can't resell it because it still won't have a warranty.
so far I have been unsuccessful in getting any real info as to what they claim the customer did to abuse the car.
later,
chris

omg thats BS! Firstly, i would think that someone that owns a cobra is probably a car enthusist (i sure hope so) in which case, they would know better than to start pushing the car so hard so early, let it break in even just a little please, no point in jeapordizing your vehicle that soon. So im thinking that if they voided warrenty it has to have been because there was like 2 nos tanks sitting in the back or something like that. i mean you have to think, what could have caused it to blow in the first place, not an easy task really.

I could see something like that happening at a oil change shop, in which case they should pay, but i dont think the guy would do it on his own because then youll have the oil on the floor and you would notice that i think. I've been racking my brain thinking what he could have done within 300 miles without mods and nothing comes to mind. Even if he floored it everywhere i can imagine engine wear would spike but i cant imagine it actually not running. Maybe he put diesal in it?
