Jesus....where the hell has that truck been so far. Looks like hell and back.

Was that thing stuck up in the Northern Territory's buried in a tomb?

Seeing the cab off makes my sac sore.

Seeing that makes me worry about getting an '08, I think I'll just stick with my '06. When that sucker gets out of warranty, I couldn't imagine the invoice I'd get to replace something on the engine like that. It'd be something like:
'cab removal and reinstallation..................... $876.54' (just guessin')

You'd have to remove brake lines, tranny lines, steering linkages, electrical connections, I see the radiator is with the cab, so there's the plumbing that needs to be disconnected, man, this thing goes on and on...

Great pics, though. Really opened my eyes to what you guys do behind closed doors.

JD, most major work of the 6.0L is the same deal. It's "designed" to come off.

Huh, no kidding. I hadn't heard of this. I thought with the addition of the second turbo on the 6.4 as well as a larger cooling system, it made accessibility an issue so cab removal was required with the new engine.

'learn something new every day. Thanks.

Makes me think back to my '77 350 with a 460, even with the big block, you could just about jump in there and do the work inside the hood there was so much room

pre-smog control, no electronics, carb, and they ran forever

seems like now its about impossible to do anything but change the oil yourself

especially on the newer gas engines when you change a plug, they break

I'm sorry I don't like this design of having to remove a body to work on an engine. I think it's gonna be a nightmare down the road when we need work done that's out of warranty. If Ford knew that cabs are gonna have to be removed it should have been designed with a locking latch system. If they have many repairs that requires removing the cab you can see their truck market going the way of their car market. A 2008 with the cab off? I'd be pretty pissed.

Yea and this is why my next truck will be a Dodge, so much room under a Cummins hood. This is what happns when your engineers smoke crack during their lunch break.
