Has anyone found a source for the model L.'s made by Revell? My local hobby store says they're not available. I contacted Revell, and they claim the L. is available, but they don't do direct sales. I am not looking for the die cast Burago L., but the plastic model. I know some folks on the board have them, but where did you find them?

I found three L models at Michael's, (a craft store). I purchased all three. I do have a spare if you don't have any luck finding one.

Jake, I appreciate the offer. I may take you up on it if I can't locate one elsewhere. The local Michael's is where I tried to order one, and they said they aren't available. I'm kind of hoping Bill pipes up and says he has a bunch. Bill's is where I ended up getting my Burago die cast after I gave up on Exoticar.

The revell lightning does not have the same motor as we do.

Moonshine, I will do you a favor. I got one for a present that I do not have the time or patience to build. I would rather give it to an L owner if you do it some justice and assemble it. Maybe post a pic if you can. Trust me, if you don't take it, it will just sit in the closet collecting dust. Send me your address and I will mail it to you free.

most all walmarts have them..

 

Just wondering if anybody painted theirs red & if so what shade of red. I have had mine for some time but wasn't sure what red because I wanted it to look just like mine. Any tips or info. appreciated.

 

If I were to paint mine red, I would buy enamel red, but I bought enamel black (faster). Enamel gives the color a wet, glossy look, kinda like Zaino.

First Most Walmart stock them. As for paint I've built doz.and doz. of models did it for a living for while. You can paint it with Ford paint(spray can) that you get from Pepboys/Autozone but make sure that you prime the plastic body inside and out that are going to be paint with the auto paint because if you don't the auto. paint will eat the plastic. I've learned that the hard way spent a lot of hours just to have it melt in front of your eyes. After you paint it, you treat the paint just like your Big L but just leave it alone because its to hard to get wax out of the body cracks. Even a soft paint brush will leave small marks.
