Another sucker conned by Sirius / XM into forking over $14 every month. They even got me for a year or so until I woke up. Now I just load my ipod with what I want to listen to. It never cuts out due to cloud cover or trees or buildings. I can still listen to it even if my truck is in my garage. And the best part of all is my money stays in my pocket.

Guys each has advantages. The iPod costs much less than the XM/Sat radio after a couple of years, but you have to update it if you listen to new music. The XM Sat plays the newer music without updating on the computer, but costs more and you cant pick a specific song.
Both are good choices, I dont believe mlamprey was trolling though, just stating his opinion.

Well, I thought about the numbers and whether it would be cheaper to cancel Sirius, and just buy more music. Either way, you pay money. Even a CD a month is about the same price as the Sat, plus I can listen to a variety of stuff, instead of just what I buy. And if I am on the road to the mother in laws, I can still keep up with the NASCAR race!

Without a doubt satellite radio has some advantages and when I subscribed I did enjoy listening to the comedy channels etc.
One of the things that always irritated me was how frequently the radio would cut out due to trees, cloudy days etc. I would no sooner get into the song playing and you would lose half the song due to the radio cutting out and back in. I am sure this is worse in some locals then others.
I also found that I would only ever listen to the same few stations despite the fact that I was paying monthly for a whole crap load of channels.
I could also not listen to the radio while the truck was parked in the garage due to no signal.
I finally made the decision to cancel after Sirius chose to increase the monthly fee. Canceling a subscription with Sirius / XM is a nightmare in itself.
I also haven't purchased a CD in over 10 years. I borrow many of them from friends etc. copy them to itunes and then return the CD to it's owner. I now have thousands of songs from all types of genre's to choose from.
At least for me, it makes so much more sense then laying out money every month, irrelevant of the amount, for something I can do for free.
I will admit that when I first bought the truck, the novelty and coolness of the satellite radio was fun to have, eventually the novelty and coolness wore off and reality sunk in.
Personally, I have far more important things to spend my money on.
