Satellite Subsrciption Rates-WTH?

Does anyone know how or if it's possible to get lower Sirius rates? My free 6 mos. subscription is almost up. I'd really like to continue it, but $13/month is a little high.

Welcome to reality.

Pay for three years in advance and it works out to $9.69 a month. What a deal!

I pay per year. If you do it every month, you're screwing yourself. - Og

I paid for lifetime 3 years ago for 1 sub. and pay $160 a year for 2 other subscriptions now. So now I basically pay $160 a year for 3 subs.

They've been calling me just about everyday and the lifetime membership is still available for $399 in five monthly installments of $79.50. They also offered me 2 yrs. at $240 in four monthly installments of $60. It would be really hard to come up with $60 or $80 per month even for just five months, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I'll just string them along as long as I can until I figure something out.

You have to pay for a longer term if you want a cheaper rate. If you pay for a year, you get it for about $10 a month.
I cant believe that you couldnt find a way to free up $13 a month in your budget if Sirius is really that important to you.

That's just it, I'm not sure it's that important to me. I can pay the $13/month. I'd just rather pay it at once or quickly and not have to worry about another bill.

I am not a big fan of the lifetime subscription. Do your research and find out what they mean by "lifetime" from what I understand when they say "lifetime" they dont mean your lifetime, they mean the lifetime of the Radio. From what I heard you can transfer your "lifetime" subscription to like 3 radios and that is it. Also lets face it, that company was on the verge of bankruptcy 2 months ago. When a company goes bankrupt all prior debts and obligations are now null and void, which could include lifetime subscriptions.

Already knew about the lifetime of the radio rule. It has already paid for itself as far as I'm concerned,I would have paid $480 by now just for my main subscription, but have only paid $399 for the sub and I don't have to worry about it any more! Well worth it IMHO!

yeah you can select what you pay based on what you listen to. i think only music was like $9.99/mo, cheaper if you pay for multiple months at a time. i've been paying mine every 3 months or so and its like 11 bucks for all channels quarterly.i think if you pay 2 years in advance, they give you like 8 months free.

I have a portable Xm and just recently had to put a new debit card on. They were trying to get me on the lifetime but with the things going on I wasn't too sure. So I just wanted to go month to month for a while but you can only go as low as three months at a time. I didn't put up a fight to get it monthly but I hope it all works out.

I cancelled mine over 2 years ago and I still get offers from Sirius from time to time. The last one I got, they offered to waive the activation fee and give me 2 months free if I bought a 12 month subscrption.
No thanks. While I like Sirius and I think its cool, there just wasnt enough stuff on there for it to be worthwhile for me to spend the money.
I mainly got it back when I still listened to heavy-metal because when I go visit my parents in NE Wisconsin, theres really no heavy-metal stations.
I dont really listen to heavy-metal anymore (went back to country) and theres more than enough country stations to listen to, so I saw no reason to continue with Sirius.
I think if I did a lot of travelling that Sirius would be great because you wouldnt be constantly hunting for radio stations, but my travelling is limited pretty much to driving from southern Wisconsin to NE Wisconsin.

I got a letter in the mail yesterday saying that my free trial subscription was up "in a few days." I'm going to call them today or tomorrow and pick a plan. I'd consider the lifetime, but I believe they're in bankruptcy protection right now (chap. 13, I think).
