Where do you see that? I just went to their site and they make no mention of that. I think they have to stick to the contract which says I get internet radio along with regular Sirius radio

Got my letter today. Looks like there like every other business losing money. Instead of keeping the price the same or even lowering it to attract new customers there going to raise the price and screw the ones they got. But I: cant whine to much I signed up because I like to listen at work and will keep the truck awhile

I think one of the reasons they are doing this is someone is getting ready to release an app for the Iphone that allows you to listen to Sirius through the internet radio portion. When this app is released there will be a lot more people using the internet option so Sirius probably sees this as a way to make a few more bucks.

I know one thing. I don't think that Sat radio will be around long. I may not renew next year

Yeah, the Sirus/XM deal didn't turn out like they planned, the money just is'nt there, when my 6 mos free runs out of Sirus, I won't subscribe, just not enough reasons to make me pay for radio service in this age of IPOD.

Sirius-XM has a lot of debt coming due this month. They can either:
- Get enough money to retire the debt
- Refinance the debt, but at a much higher rate, driving up interest expenses
- Re-negotiate the debt, with potentially a change in equity ownership
- Default and declare bankruptcy

From the financial stories, I've been reading, it sounds like re-negotiating might be in the cards, with Echostar becoming the owner (http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/tic...57&Symbol=SIRI).

In any case, a more clear picture of their future will be made this month, one way or another.

Now that they are a monopoly they can raise the price any time they want, I just got my notice last week stating if I want to lock in my current contract price I need to renew before March and the free internet access will now cost listeners. This blows.

why not look into www.pandora.com

Its free internet radio. You tell it what kind of music or artists you like and it builds a database for you. Its decent but its free.

I'm a HUGE fan of my Sirius but, I'm very upset that they're discontinuing the online listening. I use it absolutely all the time...

This may be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. MP3s are too easy to come by and burning a disc is easy. pandora is a great service as well and, it's free...

Poor decision, in my opinion but, in today's economic times, I guess I get it. I'm just not sure that they're going to 'get me' any more.

i agree, and i'm in the same boat as well.. i listen online A LOT, so this really sucked to find out about a couple of weeks ago.

worst part about it... i just renewed for 3 years during xmas break about a month and a half ago... i'm going to call and see if they can do something for me since i only missed it by about 4 or 5 weeks.

Sirus XM filed for Chapter 11, if you have a long time contract better see if they will refund your balance before they go under...theirs another thread or two about this in this forum.
