CD Aux MyFi

I want to Car Toys today and asked them to hook the myfi directly into the radio. They said the only way is to disable my cd changer.

1.) Is there any way around this for a direct signal?

2.) When they say it will disable the cd changer does that mean it will not play cd's at all?

2004 f150 with 6cd changer oem.

Thanks

There is an FM modulator you can get that goes in-line with your antenna. Best Buy carries them. It works great with the MyFi I have. You just set it up for any of the FM channels listed.

So it sounds if either you don't want to use the modulator or they are not familiar with the MyFi.

I think you're right on both accounts. I'm not that pleased with the built in FM modulator. Even though I've searched all of the frequencies in my area I still hear an unacceptable level of static. Thanks for the tip on the in line fm modulator. I wonder why they didn't offer that up? Probably because they didn't know about it.

Thanks.

halobiont, you might want to check out PIE.net They have a unit (X3) for 97-2003 Fords that connects between the external changer and the radio. It makes available 3 additional RCA inputs to your radio. The only problem I discovered was you had to have CD in the player and be playing it. They (PIE) said that's the only way to do it with the X adapter. They have another adapter that replaces the external CD player and give you RCA inputs for your XML radio (FRED-AUX). Since I replaced my OEM Ford head-unit with the Mach MP unit, I hardly ever use the external changer so I'm going to remove it and use the PIE Aux unit.

go here for a possible solution. http://www.pie.net/aux_ford.htm

Oh, the guy's at PIE were very helpful.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help.

I installed the inline fm modulator from Best Buy today. It was easy to install and works great. I'll check out the PIE solution also.
