Idle Click

I have an 05 F-150 and after it has warmed up it starts to make a clicking noise at idle it almost sounds like it has a diesel engine. then when it starts to accelerate it gets faster but quiets down. i was wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows what it could be and how to fix it? thanks!

I think it is a bad cam phaser, you should take it to ford and see if it is a recall. I'm not sure if it will cause any harm to the engine.

I have taken in to the dealership to get a full diagnostic and everything turned out good they said. they even said that was normal idle but ive been around those trucks for years my brother even has one too and it does not idle like that. sometimes the trucks hesitates to accelerate also! but im more interested in fixing the clicking because it is very noticeable and honestly sounds bad.

You might want to post this on ether the V8 forum or the 04 to 08 F150 forum for more advice on this.

Camshaft phasers are bad. Ford has a service bulletin for this
