Why is my truck so slow?

I know the truck is for hauling and towing but Oh my is it slow! I was coming home from the beach with the wife and kids. Two punks were messing around in a old Jetta and a Focus wagon. Well they lined up and I got next to them. I hit and they left me behind like I wasn't moving. There cars were old pieces of s@$t so they could not have any significant work to them. My throttle response seems to be the issue.

That 4.6L isnt going to do much against those light cars.

4.6 v8
3.55 gears
275 65 r18's
K&N filter
Air raid tube.
Flow master 50 series Delta with dual tips.

My friend is crying about gas mileage, he has a 5.4L with 3.73 gears. I'm trying to get him to trade diffs.

Since there is not a supercharger on the market for you at this time, we will move past that suggestion.
Where is your programmer?
3.55 and a 4.6 does not help you due to the weight of our trucks. 4.10 and a programmer would be a big help

Wow 4.11 just sounds so big. I do about 75% highway, i'm afraid this may hurt my MPG.
Shoot if you do the math. The cost in aftermarket parts to get the 4.6 moving I should just trade up to a 5.4 rig. Of course if the dealer doesn't rape me on the trade in allowance.

Not even going to get into the main topic, but on a side note don't under estimate the foci. There are several engine options, and none are a joke..the wagon had a 2.3 that would lay a lickin' on a 4.6 no problem

4.10 gears may actually help your mileage out since your truckis under powered and weighs a buttload

Hey I sympathize w/ the 4.6. I'm pretty sure the best ya can hope for is really good performance... for a 4.6L. We were talkin' bout this on another thread Street Scene or 2004+ can't remember. Like I said, ya can do the upgrades & have a better runnin rig for yourself, but on the whole spectrum not much. Good Luck & don't get discouraged. If ya had a 5.4 w/ SC, 4.10s, & programmer you'd wonder why the Roush Stage 2 Mustang passed ya! It never seems to be enough does it?
