Where are the threads going?

Are threads getting deleted now? Old ones are still good ones, right?

For instance, where did the old 200,000 mile club thread go? In the "Engine" forum.

There was a bed cover thread I started (Tonno/Tonneau Cover)- in the right forum and I searched every page twice, it's gone. There wasn't any idiocies in it from what I recall.

Are these being archived somewhere? If deleted, what a big waste of info that would be.

Is the search feature messed up?

EDIT: I'm trying to figure this out here as well, with another user who had some success.

Who's in the 200k+ mile club

They're there... you just have to realize that they have to, at some point in time, autoarchieve. Further, the forums are set to display the last month-worth of posts. So, if the thread that you're speaking of hasn't been posted to within the past 30 days, it'll not be visible within the pages of that forum and one will have to result to pulling it out via a search (as you apparently did on the 200k club thread).

Can you check under UserCP

Setting and options -> Edit options

On this page

Thread Display Options -> Default Thread Age Cut Off

What is the setting on your page, The pull down has several on options.

Starts with Use Forum defaults, and then increments from last day up to show all threads.

If you have any other setting, try changing it to show all threads, and try the search again.

I have searches show up threads from 2003 quite often when looking up old Electrical items in a specific ( electrical ) forum.

Also you can search from the black menu bar, just to make sure with the engine rearrange it did get put in the correct place ( if past the sub forum change ).

It is the last item showing on this page ( from the other question, ignore the red box )

Thanks Skully, I'll check that out. Yea, I didn't realize that was in there. I'll look at the Control Panel settings.

Was this the bed cover thread you were looking for ?

Need a NEW bed cover.

I did an advanced search for bed cover, with your member name, and ascending thread listing, and only 5 showed ( this thread was 1 of them ).

Yea, that's the one I was looking for. I did it the hard way and went through the pages in that forum

Thank you.

So search is still the way to go, just have to realize the site has to back up and archive at some point. If search results don't look right, try again a little later.

Might have missed it.

When I go through that forum ( Bedliners, Caps, Tops & Lids ) and the page numbers in the upper right hand corner, there are 68 pages ( don't think thread list uses the 40 per page that my UserCP option of 40 posts per page uses ).
When I click in the page list, last, this is what I get :

http://www.f150online.com/forums/bed...ids-32-68.html

Oldest thread date is 07-21-1999.

Quick check of the electrical forum, click on last ( upper right hand corner ) I get page 403.

http://www.f150online.com/forums/ele...ms-67-403.html

Oldest post date of 01-20-2000

The search will only return a max of 500 threads ( the newest ones ) with the default of descending.

Not sure where the thread archive part comes in myself, I have never seen it. I have gotten stumped with the max 500 returns, but that means I used too wide of a keyword search.
