I didn't make it impossible to read we'll i Didn't think so at least I even read it again and yeah I didn't quite read the how old the thread was my bad... by the way does any one possibly have a picture of what a cold air intake looks like on this motor I don't wannna buy the 296 dollar one I was hoping I could do it cheaper and run two pipes from both the air holes to good spots and pop nice air filters on the ends and spend 150 or just spend a hundred on just some filters to put at the ends of the two plastic pipes already there only problem is I'm afraid if I go my own direction with it I might messs it up
Thank you for any help,

Once again, impossible to read.
Cold air intakes are not only expensive, they are pointless

No, I think we've covered just about everything. I don't think there's anything left to say.

Ive got a 93 f150 the 4.9 and i love it so much but some of these dam parts are a pain to find like my fuel rail cracked and it took calls to 45 auto wreakers to find me another one and they had to order it from somewhere else, Ford stopped making them years ago. Right now tho i have an issuse in cylender 1 and im hoping the injector is just pooched, the egr tube is shot and the windsheild leaks other then that the E4OD is holding up prity well and she topped out at 155kph. I cant really complain she's turning 19 and i found her in a field paid 500$ for her and took three years to fix all the abuses and neglect from previous owners.

Why not just get stuff from a junkyard motor clean and install..
These things are everywhere and that's no exaggeration.

All I've had are V8s. Can anyone tell me alot about these motors especially behind a 4x4? Is there another site around where I can find out more about them? Thanks.
I have an 86' f-150 4.9 . Never had a better engine , period and I've had a bunch . Mine turned 300K this summer and I don't baby it but do maintain it , it's never seen dirty oil ever . I pull a 30' gooseneck horse trailer and it out pulls my 94' Dodge Diesel and I live in mtn. country however it doesn't do as well on the flat as my Dodge .
I've had it since it had 40K (98') on it and have only replaced a fuel pump an electrical gizmo on the side of the distributor twice and a couple of clutch's .
This summer I made it into my farm truck / wood getter . This engine has never leaked an once of oil and still doesn't burn any oil . Have no idea when it will give up the ghost . If there is a better engine I'd like to know what it is !
When I first bought it I got about 19mpg going cross country empty and this is a 4x4 .

A very old thread. I loved my 1995 long bed with 4.9L and 5 speed.

A few performance tips, instead of installing a chip, why not just bump timing, you will need to run higher octane gas, also install a Punisher Valve Body. That is, if you purchase a truck with an E4OD transmission. A set of 3.55 gears, a 130 amp alternator upgrade, an electric fan, a good tune up, a Magnaflow or Dynomax midpipe & catback, and a 1996 MAF airbox/y-tube with K&N filter.
