I'm pretty sure this is an easy fix but my father who told me he'd help me fix my truck up is not mechanically inclined at all and is afraid he is going to brake something taking the plastic off the door. Neither the driver or passenger doors lock but the little rods push down and look as if they are locked, any help would be appreciated!

 

Could just be a lubrication problem. You may be able to loosen it up by spraying some penetrating oil like 'moovit' or the like in through the latch at the back of the door. up, down, sideways, just try to reach everywhere you can and then work the locks up and down a lot to see if they start working.
If that doesn't work, you'll have to pull off the inner plastic door panel to see if something is disconnected or jammed up. It's not that hard to remove them, slightly different for power or manual windows, but still pretty basic either way.
