95 F150 Y pipe

Hi, I just recently purchased a 95 F150 with a 302 v8. I have some exhaust leaks and am unsure if it is from the manifolds or the connections to the exhaust. Either way I am looking to replace the y pipe with a better flowing cat and some summit shorty headers. My question is what is the quality of the walker 15742 y pipe compared to the catco 9322. The walker is roughly 50 bucks cheaper. That's not always better but if there is no difference then I'll go cheaper. Thanks

With a 302, skip the shorty headers. If you can't fit or don't want to spend the bucks for long headers, forget it altogether. Shorties are worthless on a 302. Assuming you are wanting a dual exhaust setup, avoid too large of pipe or expect low end torque to go away. 1 7/8" absolute max pipe. You don't necessarily NEED a crossover but it will stop the rapping or popping sound that comes from tru-duals. I've never had any issues with any Walker product.

I actually don't want or need duals. I'm trying to fix the leak while keeping the truck nice and quiet. Stock manifolds and shorties are basically same price and I figured shorties were better than manifolds. Was thinking shorties, new y pipe and cat, then dynomax single in and out muffler.

Have a new problem now little coolant drip behind water pump. Hope it's not the timing chain cover.

Bassani, Magnaflow and Dynomax make catted mid-pipes. Shorty headers are not worthless, but you will only gain around 3-5 hp by themselves. A hi-flow catted mid-pipe will help. A Dynomax Super Turbo will sound good on your 5.0L.

Magnaflow 93307 is $246.99 shipped from Jegs.com and is the best deal for a performance oriented mid-pipe. It has mandrel bent pipe and a hi flow cat.

I've got the rest of the truck run perfect except for that leak.

I don't know that I'm real concerned with lots of added power or anything just a little better flow and tone with no added noise. I have a 450 whp coyote mustang for my horsepower needs.

That being said summit shorties, that walker y pipe (don't know that the others are worth 60 more), and a quiet dynomax muffler should be good bang for my buck.

It looks like you answered your question. A solid plan.
