Transfer case motor question

Hi all, first post. I need to replace my transfer case motor. It looks pretty straight forward but I ran into a problem and it deals with the pigtail.

I cannot seem to disengage the pigtail. I am old and have somewhat weak hands, but I tried for over an hour and could not figure out how to separate them. Is there a secret to this?

Also, there are three wires from the t-case (for the magnetic clutch) that I do not know how to disengage/reinstall. Do they simply pull out?

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

EDIT: Found this video for a late model explorer. I hope it is similar.

Sorry bud, no wifi in the mountains of afganland where I just spent a few days.

No way to do it without a cut and splice. Heat shrink 'er real good so it stays dry.
