1995 F150 XLT 5.8L and oil cooler question

Hi. I have a 1995 F150 XLT with the 5.8L and it has the factory oil cooler that mounts under the oil filter and has two small hoses hooking it to the lower radiator hose. Question: does the coolant flow just through the housing or does it also flow between the housing and the engine block?
I need to replace the radiator hoses due to age and I'd like to NOT utilize the oil cooler.

I'm trying to figure out if I can replace the current 2 pc lower rad hose with the 1 pc non-oil cooler lower rad hose and leave the oil cooler attached to the block without causing any leaks?

Thanks
Max

You will need to perform an oil cooler delete and a non oil cooler lower rad hose, or purchase the correct hoses from the parts store, and keep the cooler in tact. I deleted my oil cooler, because I couldn't find a lower hose that was not cracked, even hoses from the Ford dealer.
